Yesterday we completed a project on behalf of the Loose Ends Project ❤️

“Loose Ends is an everyone-is-welcome movement that aims to ease grief, create community, and inspire generosity by matching volunteer handwork finishers with textile projects people have left undone due to death or disability.”

I was contacted by Little Sisters of the Poor-Sacred Heart Residence to help a resident finish some pot holders that they’d been working on but unable to complete.

I traveled to Mobile, AL and received such a warm welcome. The facility is absolutely beautiful and my soul was filled with an incredible feeling as soon as I walked in.

The volunteer coordinator connected me with the resident and we sat and chatted while I finished the projects on my sewing machine. Many residents stopped by to say hello and see what we were working on. It was refreshing to be able to help someone with something that was seemingly simple but so big as we were mending more than pot holders.

We finished the project (I took some extra ones home to work on and bring back) and we said our farewell. The resident was sew happy to finally have the project completed. I was sew happy that I had the skills to help her.

It was a good day 💙

The City of Pensacola has committed $100,000 to help launch the "Hand Up for Youth" Program with Children's Home Society of Florida, an initiative designed to address the rising number of homeless youth in our community and provide critical resources to empower them toward self-sufficiency.

Hand Up for Youth will focus on two key areas:

-Supportive Permanent Housing for Youth Ages 18-23:
This program component will provide financial assistance for up to six months of rent, coupled with up to 18 months of case management and a transition plan to help youth achieve independence. With this funding, CHS aims to assist at least 15 youth in securing stable housing and essential resources.

-Host Homes for Homeless Youth Ages 16-17:
Designed to serve the most vulnerable young people, this initiative will recruit and support host families to provide safe, short-term housing in a home setting. With the program's wraparound case management, youth can continue their education and gain stability while benefiting from mentorship and support.

The funds will directly address the high demand for additional housing options, bridging the gap for young people who might otherwise face instability. By investing in this initiative, the City of Pensacola is taking a bold step toward reducing youth homelessness and empowering the next generation to thrive.

This wonderful quilt too was made by a wonderful retreater during the Classi Creations retreat this past weekend and donated to our cause.

She used fabric that was donated by another retreater at a past retreat. We will use the money raised by our t-shirt fundraiser to purchase batting to complete the quilt and donate it to one lucky kiddo.

Thank you to the helpful hearts at the Classi Retreat that made this quilt top and quilted 3 others that were previously donated.

Returning back from celebrating Angelina’s birthday, we are happy to announce there have been some donations made to Project Linus on behalf of Vicky’s Heart. We are gathering them up to make a big group donation at the end of the month ❤️

Yesterday was Angelina’s (Vicky’s daughter) birthday. We all met up at Universal Studios, where they loved to hang out and check out the latest rides. We celebrated Angelina in every day we think would have made Vicky proud. Her spirit was alive and well all weekend and will continue to warm our hearts as we come back to our normal lives, recharged and ready to face the next challenges in life.

We did it! We met our goal of $700 and passed it!

Thank you SO SO SO much for all of your support. I can’t even explain how happy Vicky would have been to see this kind of love and support.

Our Board of Directors (which includes Vicky’s husband Julio, daughter Angelina, son Andrew, and sister-in-law Gloriana) will meet and discuss how and when this first fundraiser money will be used and let everyone know the plans so we are all on the same page 💙💙💙
