Escambia Search and Rescue

Escambia Search and Rescue ESAR was established in 1961 as an all-volunteer organization dedicated to assisting our community in times of need.

ESAR responds to numerous circumstances, including lost children, missing hunters, drowning victims, overdue boats, and natural disasters. Escambia Search and Rescue is made of multiple specialized commands in order to be able to respond to a variety of mission in our area. We currently have multiple boats to respond in both the coastal areas as well as the many rivers in our area, to supplement t

his we also have divers who are trained in various forms of underwater search, rescue, and recovery methods. In addition to our marine assets we also have team members who are trained in multiple aspects of land based searches including tracking, K-9's, and unmanned aircraft (drones) to assist in our mission.

William Farris Sr. has been safely located!

***Missing Endangered Adult***

We need your help locating 89-year-old William Farris Sr., who was last seen today, June 14, 2026, around 7:25 pm on the 6800 block of Fields Ln. William was last seen wearing a white t-shirt, jean shorts, and a hat, as seen in the picture. It appears he may be carrying a cup.

Jeremy Findley is our Land Ops Commander. He is the Director of the Project Lifesaver program for Escambia & surrounding counties. He was recently featured in an article from WEAR News: "Veterans Making a Difference."

OB Pettit is our Assistant Director for Escambia Search and Rescue. He maintains the call logs and activates the searches. He has been with us for many years and is an invaluable asset to our organization.
