Next up in our Summer Safety Series: Swim Safety

Drowning doesn’t just happen in pools — and swim safety starts long before little toes hit the water. From supervision to flotation to securing pool access, layers of protection matter.

Remember: Active eyes save lives.

Just because adults are nearby doesn’t mean anyone’s watching. In fact, the more adults around, the easier it is to assume someone else is in charge.

Designate a "water watcher," communicate clearly, and tag someone in when it’s time to take a break.

Let’s make water fun and safe this summer! 🛟

Say hi to Sally, everyone! She is a phenomenal GCKH volunteer and Ambassador, and we are so grateful for her!

Bio:
Sally has called Pensacola home since 1977, when she moved from Connecticut. She retired in 2021 after an impressive 38-year career in the insurance industry, spending her entire professional career with the same agency. Sally is married and enjoys spending time with her family, which includes her adult son, three stepchildren, five step-grandchildren, and one great step-grandchild. In her free time, she enjoys golfing with her husband, gardening, spending time at the beach, and boating. Her dedication, loyalty, and passion for helping others make her a valued member of our volunteer team.

How were you introduced to GCKH?
I have always known of GCKH. After I retired, I stopped by the facility to donate an infant car seat and from there became a volunteer.

What's your favorite holiday?
Halloween

It's officially summer, and the Florida heat can turn dangerous fast, especially for children left in cars. As temps rise, so does the risk. This week, we’re kicking off our Summer Safety Series with an important reminder: look before you lock. A simple habit can save a life.

This year’s event raised an amazing $4,148, bringing their all-time total to an incredible $34,600 in support of local children and families.

We are so grateful for the continued generosity of the De Novo team and their clients who came out to support this special event. Thank you for a decade of making a difference in our community!

Our Healing Garden is beginning to bloom.

Although the garden is still in progress, we were honored to celebrate the reveal of the new pavilion and the musical instruments now installed in the space.

This garden would not be possible without the generosity of our sponsors and donors, including PenAir Credit Union, Navy Federal Credit Union, Green Procedures Inc, and so many others who invested in this vision.

A very special thank you to Greater Pensacola Chamber Leadership Pensacola LeaP Class of 2026 for helping raise the funds that made this garden possible. Their legacy lives in the pavilion, and their impact will be felt for years to come as this space continues to grow.

We are also grateful to Classic City Catering for providing the delicious hors d’oeuvres that helped make the celebration so special.

And finally, a heartfelt thank you to Morette Company for their partnership from design through ex*****on, helping bring these beautiful landmarks and landscaping to life.

Blue Gala 2026 was a wonderful success! Gulf Coast Kid’s House wouldn’t be able to serve its mission without the heart of this community, and we truly cannot thank our sponsors, donors, and supporters enough.

A very special thanks to Classic City Catering for the delectable food, Jordan Chase for the soothing entertainment, & Lewis Bear Co. and Lucy’s in the Square for beverages. This event would not be the same without you.
