Time to be Heard!

Customary Use on Perdido Key would allow the general public to use privately owned beachfront property for recreational use. It is on the Agenda for discussion at the Escambia County Board of County Commissioners February 19, 2026 regular meeting.
It is likely Commissioners will not vote one way or the other on imposing Customary Use on Perdido Key at the meeting, but they could. Regardless, it is an exceptionally important meeting where inputs from beachfront property owners can inform debate and
hopefully influence the direction of Commissioner decisions.

The regular meeting will begin at 9:45 AM on Thursday, February 19, 2026 at the Ernie Lee Magaha Government Building at 221 Palafox Place close to the corner of Government and Palafox Streets in downtown Pensacola. Speakers should arrive by 9:15 AM to sign up to speak since many others are expected. Note that comments on Customary Use must be made at the regular meeting since it is on the Agenda, not at the Public Forum preceding the regular meeting as was the case earlier this year.

Paid parking is available at the parking garage on Baylen Street but also along Government and Baylen Streets. Free parking may be available on Spring Street a block further to the west. Note that construction on Palafox Street makes downtown parking more challenging.

You can enter the building either from Government or Palafox Streets. The meeting is in the large room on the ground floor near where you pass through a security checkpoint and signup to speak at the desk. Rest rooms are available to the left of the entrances.

Opinions can also be expressed by e-mail and text to all Commissioners – addresses available at MyEscambia.com.

Please contact PKA President Connie Walker at [email protected] or PKA Director Charles Krupnick at [email protected] with any questions.
