Choral Evensong at Christ Church Parish (Pensacola)

On Sunday, May 17th at 5:00 p.m., the Christ Church choir will sing Choral Evensong, one of the oldest and most beautiful liturgies in the Anglican tradition. Featured will be Cantata no. 140, Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme, by Johann Sebastian Bach. Other music includes the Magnificat and Nunc dimittis in B-flat by Charles Villiers Stanford; Anglican Chant; and congregational hymns. The evensong orchestra, comprising two horns, three oboes (one doubling English horn), bassoon, strings, and continuo will accompany the cantata and will also play movements of Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto no. 1 in F Major.
Choral Evensong will be followed by a festive reception. Please come take part, and invite a friend!

Local AGO members and friends to present Organ Recital - Tuesday 28 April 2026 - 7:00 p.m.

Members of the Pensacola Chapter, American Guild of Organists will present a Members' Recital on Tuesday, 26 April 2026 at 7:00 p.m. At St. Paul Catholic Church, 3131 Hyde Park Rd., Pensacola. The program includes works by Bach, Mendelssohn and others. Pensacola AGO members are joined by organ students at the University of West Florida The event is free and open to the public. Please come and support your local musicians and colleagues!

To: Pensacola AGO members, friends and others of interest

As most of us have already been reminded by our dean, Dr. Jason Hobratschk, our programing year begins Tuesday, October 7 with an open-to-all choral reading session, 7PM in the choir room of First Presbyterian Church in Pensacola.

A dinner will preside the program at 6:00PM at the church. This dinner is being prepared by Pam Strubhar and her crew of helper elves and any of you who want to assist her with setup and other preparations. To do that, make yourself available to her at the church by 5:00PM on Tuesday, Oct 7. In order for her to execute this service she must know how many individuals will be partaking in the dinner. To attend the dinner you must make a reservation by a reply to this email not later than 9:00AM Monday, October 6. In your reply, provide the names of individuals for whom you are making a reservation. To fund the cost of your dinner, dues-paid AGO members will be charged a mere token $5.00 each, payable when you arrive. Please arrange to have the $5 cash upon arrival, so that the treasurer (me!) does not have to make change from large bills. The major costs of the dinner will be paid from Chapter funds generated by the Chapter portion of your AGO dues. Other individual dinner participants will be seated by a $10.00 payment

Organ Registration workshop with Dr Jason Hobratschk this Saturday morning @ 10 am @ First Presbyterian Church!
AGO Organ Registration Workshop this Saturday, May 3rd!
10:00 a.m. - First Presbyterian Church

This Saturday at 10:00 a.m., Dr. Jason Hobratschk will offer a short course on organ registration focusing on the stops we see when we sit down to an organ console. This includes families of organ tone, pitch designations, and general usage in hymn registration. The workshop will be held at First Presbyterian Church, 33 E. Gregory St., Pensacola.

On Tuesday, June 18th, at 6pm is our end of season dinner and election with installation of officers. We will be going back to O’Brien’s Bistro on Bayou Blvd!
