Thanks to our friends at Navarre United Methodist Church, our laundry in our newly renovated shelter space is now outfitted with commercial grade washers and dryers. 💦🫧

In addition to providing this quality equipment, the church donated an abundance of laundry pods to provide for fresh laundry loads for months to come! 🧺

Thanks, Navarre UMC, for helping us expand necessary operations to our newly opened shelter wing which added 40 more beds to our existing 50 bed shelter!!

Wednesday is my last day at Bright Bridge Ministries before moving to Birmingham with my family. I want to thank all of you for your kind words these past few weeks and for the support you have shown me throughout these past five years of ministry.

Recently, I was asked about my “why?” Why do I wake up every day grateful to serve through Bright Bridge Ministries? My answer is YOU...all of you.

I have had the privilege of standing on the bridge we call Bright Bridge Ministries, watching countless men and women journey from homelessness to stable housing, and watching all of you standing along the sides of the bridge, cheering them on.

Whether you volunteer, give, pray, or are someone journeying across the bridge yourself, I am honored to have been part of your lives.

Watching residents move into the South Wing rooms so many of you helped stock and prepare has been one of the greatest joys of this season. To witness stories of sobriety, restored families, and God at work in your lives, there is no greater joy.

My prayers are with you, and with Bright Bridge Ministries, as you continue this good work!

Sincerely,
Pastor Cheryl Hinnen

Terry came to Bright Bridge Ministries on December 30, facing the uncertainty of situational homelessness. He had heard about our shelter program, but never imagined he would one day need its support himself.

Terry had been attending our community lunches. When his housing situation became unstable, he reached out for help, hoping for just a short-term solution. What he found instead was something far deeper.

“At first, I didn’t want to be around a lot of people,” Terry shared. “But I felt God telling me, ‘Give Bright Bridge a chance.’”

Through the encouragement of staff and fellow residents, especially a friend named Bert, Terry began to feel a sense of belonging. He started attending church, opening his heart to faith, and learning what it means to live in community with others.

Recently, Terry experienced another milestone: moving into our newly renovated shelter wing, which officially opened in March. “It’s like living in a mansion,” he said. “I got emotional. I wake up smiling every morning now.”

For Terry, the new space represents more than just improved living conditions, it reflects a renewed sense of dignity, stability, and hope. With guidance from staff, he has also been working on personal growth, learning the importance of respect, responsibility, and trust.

“When I came here, I didn’t even know God,” Terry said. “Now I know it’s hard to live without Him.”

Today, Terry is an active part of the Bright Bridge community. He volunteers, serves in the kitchen, where staff affectionately call him a “rockstar,” and encourages others who are walking a similar path.

“They built this place for God,” he said. “People didn’t have to do it, but God touched their hearts.”

Terry’s goal is clear: to move into his own place with money saved for rent and a stable foundation for the future. With continued support and determination, he is well on his way.

His story is a powerful reminder that transformation is possible, with faith, community, and a place to belong. Thank you for being part of our mission and part of Terry’s journey to stability.
