There’s a very special place right here in Pensacola where the hungry are fed, the homeless are sheltered, and the abandoned are cared for. It’s the Pensacola Humane Society, where our staff and volunteers provide comfort and care for unwanted and abandoned animals in our community. We operate and maintain a NO KILL shelter and adoption center for homeless animals on private donations and fundrais

ing activities. We receive no city, state or federal government funding. Our staff cares for the abandoned or neglected animals until they go to good homes. PENSACOLA HUMANE SOCIETY SOCIAL MEDIA TERMS OF USE

SNAPE has been waiting long enough. 💔

In August 2023, the Pensacola Humane Society took Snape in after he was deemed “unadoptable” at another shelter. The problem? Snape doesn’t handle kennel confinement well. His anxiety can become so intense that he literally starts flipping tail over head.

Then came what should have been his best day ever: Snape was adopted. He went home believing he had finally found his forever family.

Fast forward to July 4th of this year. While everyone else was celebrating Independence Day, Snape was found counties away from home and taken to a high-kill shelter.

The shelter called us. We went and got him. And Snape came back to PHS.

But now he’s been here for a while, and he’s getting anxious again. 💔

The truth is, Snape is amazing. He knows his basic commands, loves a good walk, rides beautifully in a car, and is eager to please. He’s a big boy with a big heart and he knows that life outside the shelter is better.

He just needs someone to give him that chance.

We are looking for an adopter, foster, or anyone willing to give Snape some time outside the shelter so he can decompress and remember what it feels like to simply be a dog.

Snape has become somewhat reactive toward other dogs while at the shelter, so we’d prefer that he be the only dog in the home. He also doesn’t care for cats. We know those things make finding the right home a little harder.

But we also know something else:

Snape’s BFF is out there. ❤️

Somewhere is the person who will look at this big lovable boy and say, “You’re home.”

Please help us find them.

If you can foster, adopt, or even share Snape’s story, you could be the reason his next chapter finally becomes the his fairytale ending. Do you or your organization want to sponsor Snape? Reach out to [email protected]

EXPERIENCED END-OF-LIFE ADOPTER NEEDED.

Meet Lily! 🌸 She was surrendered after her owner passed away. She is a retired race dog! In her prime, she raced and won A LOT up until she was 4-6 years old. She doesn't run much anymore, but still gets little bursts of energy for zoomies (but those don't last long). Lily has special needs: She is on a special diet of kidney care food and takes medicine to help her feel more comfortable. We are looking for an end of life adoption where she can spend whatever time she has left being pampered and LOVED.

Go to www.pensacolahumane.org to see Lily and all of our adoptable dogs.

🧡32 PETS SPAYED & NEUTERED TODAY! 🧡

What an incredible day at the Barbara Grice Spay & Neuter Clinic at Pensacola Humane Society!

Today, 32 animals received spay/neuter surgeries! (20 cats and 12 dogs)

We are so incredibly grateful to BISSELL Pet Foundation and Cathy Bissell for their program - making this important work possible through their generous funding and support. 👏

Because of this partnership, these 32 animals have a healthier future ahead, and countless unwanted litters can be prevented. Spay and neuter is one of the most important things we can do to help reduce shelter overcrowding and save lives.

"We have roughly 50 to 75 calls and emails a day for people wanting to surrender an animal to us," said [PHS CEO Blake] White. "The county shelter has the same problem. So anything we can do to work the problem upstream in the sense of preventing unwanted animals is gonna have an effect on us downstream by hoping to reduce the demand on the shelters."

ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. -- The Pensacola Humane Society has launched its first "Spay it Forward" program.
