Yesterday, the Five Flags Rotary Club had the pleasure of welcoming author Randolph Russell, who shared insights from his book, American History in No Time. Randolph took us on a fast-paced journey through the people, events and moments that shaped our nation, proving that history can be both engaging and accessible.

Thank you, Randolph, for an informative and entertaining presentation and for reminding us that understanding our past helps us better appreciate our present.

As your Five Flags Rotary Club President for 2026-27, I am excited to lead our members to get the most out of their Rotary experience and Create Lasting Impact! Special thanks to our Immediate Past President, Jeff Rogers, and recent Past Presidents, Veronica Dias, Don Quinn, and Tammy Ward, for their continuing leadership, as well as our dedicated Officers and Board Members. Since 1982, our club has made significant, lasting contributions to our community and the world, and I will work as President to continue that legacy.

Tonya Byrd, Director of the City of Pensacola Parks and Recreation Department, joined Five Flags Rotary this week to share an exciting update on the city's parks, recreation programs and future improvements. From expanding recreational opportunities to enhancing community spaces, her presentation highlighted the important role parks play in making Pensacola an even better place to live, work and play.

Congratulations to outgoing Five Flags Rotary Club President Jeff Rogers on a year of outstanding leadership and service. Thanks to the dedication of our Board of Directors and club members, the past year was filled with meaningful projects, stronger community partnerships and continued growth as we welcomed new members into the Rotary family.

As we turn the page, we proudly welcome Robert Warren as our new club president. We look forward to another year of fellowship, service, leadership and building an even stronger club by inviting others to experience the impact of Rotary.

Congratulations to Five Flags member Sam Young for being named the 2026 Ethics in Business large business winner. As CEO of Pensacola Habitat for Humanity, Sam has lead a team that has helped transform the lives of many through affordable housing.

And congratulations to Gulf Breeze Rotarian Tom Vaughn for being named the 2026 recipient of the annual Ethics in Business Award in the Small Business sector!

Today we welcomed Pensacola Police Department's new chief, Eric Winstrom. Chief Winstrom shared with us his background and his early thoughts of police departments. He is settling in and says that his family is excited for the move to Pensacola. "Trust is a key component not only of leadership within a police department but also between the department and the community it serves." Winstrom said, "I'm well aware that trust is earned and there are no shortcuts in earning it. I am eager to get to work with the team already in place at PPD." Welcome Chief Winstrom to Pensacola!!
