This was THE TRIP!! It is such a crazy and equal amazing opportunity to go into THE Senate and Representatives Buildings and actually talk to someone in hopes and expectations to make a difference. My story is raw, unrehearsed (because I just have to tell the truth), sometimes emotional, and to the point. I'm not there for games, I'm there for results. I have been asked before if I thought it made a difference and my honest answer was sometimes. Sometimes they engage back with questions. Sometimes they are familiar with the disease. Sometimes they are watching their watch. Sometimes we only plant a seed. Sometimes we water that seed. Sometimes we REAP the benefit now.
Sometimes we have to wait. BUT not this time. This time we saw results the SAME day. And not from one legislature. But MANY 💜 This time I can leave excited. I can leave knowing we are another step closer to making a difference for everyone. How crazy is it to go through all of this for a blood test? I would do it again...
And this trip was actually different in another way. I had 3 whole hours before needing to make that trip to the airport and I took my first tour!! What better way to see much instead of little but by trolley. It made 15 stops. I was only able to get off once so most of the photos are roadside. So in a close order as possible :
The building voted the ugliest building in the area. Hoover Building. The next one was cool but I can't remember. Then the Archives Museum. I went (ran) into the National Archives and saw the EMANCIPATION PROCLAMATION, DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE, CONSTITUTION, BILL OF RIGHTS and amendments. These documents were huge!! By the way, the whole city is under construction. And there is a MASSIVE celebration planned for the 4th /250 year. I mean crazy big. Some photos of architecture or other important buildings. Then Union Station. One of the first firehouse's built in 1916 with the original insurance plaque still. Museums upon Museums. The Spy Museum with a car from a James Bond movie, motorcycle from another spy movie and something from Mission Impossible also. Federal museums are free. Private museums charge. Sadly the Smithsonian Castles will only be open a short time more then closed till 2028 undergoing construction. More monuments and important buildings. The horse poses. The police have "since 1791" on their vehicles. The UFC ring in the back of the white house being constructed. Fords Theater where Lincoln was shot. The ridiculous amount to park at that garage. One of the small embassy's. Some are the size of a home and some are bigger than Olive Baptist. And now me coming home. With more items on my bucket list to return one day as a tourist. This place just sucks me in with the history, architecture, beyond huge buildings, and character. I have so much more to say. But now I'm going to eat. Soak in my last minute before boarding. And get ready to jump back to work tomorrow. Thank you for following this journey. Thank you for being part of the reason I could represent our area. Because of you we show them we are serious about fighting. 💜💜
