TO REFLECT ON…
The corona virus has disrupted daily life for people around the globe, but it has not disrupted God’s Plan. His plan will continue and we should continue to trust Him as well. As we are forcibly obligated to spend time secluded at home, we now have time to reflect on our lives and our relationship with God. In the bible we read that David also had time to reflect while secluded in a cave, hiding from King Saul, and waiting…“till I know what God will do for me.” 1 Samuel 22:3. The cave always reveals just how much work God still desires to do to get us ready for great things, if we are willing to seek and wait on Him.
Somewhere I read that the cave is a core curriculum in the school of spirituality. The cave is to the Christian believers what boot camp training is to militaries. Every believer, sooner or later, gets “cave-time”! This lockdown might be ours and is our time to reflect on…
1- Our family and consider to get to know them deeper.
2- Getting to meet our neighbors and making relationships and even go far as to offer assistance.
3- Contacting friends who we have not called in a long time. While doing this we think on how many good friends we have lost along the way due to our busy lifestyle. This lockdown or cave time is perhaps the most frustrating period of our life but it will turn out to be the most fruitful.
So here’s the deal: since we are in a forced cave-time right now, I want to remind you of some good news: You are not alone—God is with you. And furthermore, God understands all about caves. He’s been there and a lot worse than ours! You see, Jesus, was stripped of everything, too. He lost his position as a spiritual leader. His own family criticized him. His friends ran away. He lost the adoration of the cheering crowds. He suffered the mockery of a trial and the humiliation of a cross. And when he died, they buried his lifeless body in a cave, and it looked like it was over!
And let us add that God does his best work in caves, because it is there where he resurrects dead! That cave was where a dead Messiah became a Risen Savior…and our cave is where our dead dreams, or maybe our dead ministry, or perhaps our dead plans or even our dead marriage or family relationships will take on resurrection life. Our cave may seem to be deep and dark and frustrating right now, but here’s the thing you need to know: God works in caves! So stay patient trusting—your resurrection is coming! Soon these difficult times will pass and we will be back to our normal life but with a different perspective of what is valuable and what is not.
“Why do you look for the living among the dead?” Luke 24:5
