Granadero member, Wesley Odom has had his book, The Longest Siege of the American Revolution Published in Spainish. Presented by his son Trevor, the book has been in high demand and can now be enjoyed by people in both countries. Viva Gálvez, Viva España, y Viva Los Estados Unidos!

It is with great sadness to inform you of the passing of Eric Thompson, member of the Granaderos y Damas de Galvez, Macharaviaya. He passed away today in his sleep in his 90s.

Eric was a son of a WWI British veteran and lived during the blitz on Liverpool during WWII. He spent a few years in the British Army with his twin brother John who passed away last year in August 2021. Eric was a graduate from a prestigious university and worked as an executive for a fortune 500 company. He married a beautiful German wife and together they had one daughter and several grandchildren. Upon his retirement in the 1970s, he and his wife moved to Spain where they enjoyed an idyllic home in the Spanish countryside overlooking a reservoir and mountain in the distance.

Eric visited Pensacola several times, even leading the Galvez day parade. Eric was an avid painter and enjoyed sharing his love of Spain, Pensacola and the Galvez story. After marching in his first Pensacola Galvez Day parade, Eric informed Wesley Odom that he lost the sole of his shoe. He later joked, "I actually lost my soul in Pensacola."

Now his memory will forever be in our hearts.

Last Saturday, members of the Granaderos y Damas de Gálvez in Pensacola, went to see Top Gun: Maverick. Afterwards, our very own Top Gun, Dan McCort reviewed the movie and gave us insights to his time at Top Gun and his participation in the first film! Thank you Dan!
