Beyond the Game: Using Soccer to Promote Peace

Promoting Peace and Social Solidarity

Wau Town, Western Bahr el Ghazal State, South Sudan

Young people in South Sudan face conflict, displacement, poverty, and the threat of recruitment into militias. Many are vulnerable and searching for a sense of belonging. Sports can provide a positive alternative and a pathway to peace.

In partnership with Wau Rotary, Wau Rotaract, and the Voice of Hope Radio Network, we are launching a Youth Peace Sports Tournament to bring young people from different communities together through sports, cultural activities, peace education, and community outreach.

The initiative will:

Build friendships and trust across community and ethnic lines.
Develop Youth Peace Ambassadors and leaders of reconciliation.
Provide a safe, positive environment that reduces vulnerability to militias and gangs.
Promote tolerance, unity, and peaceful coexistence.
Use Voice of Hope Radio to amplify youth voices and share messages of peace.
Your Support Can Make a Difference
Donations will help provide sports equipment, tournament costs, youth leadership training, peace education, and radio awareness campaigns.

Your gift can help give young people hope, belonging, and an alternative to violence—and empower them to become leaders for peace.

When young people play together, they learn to live together.

Please consider supporting this important investment in the youth and future of South Sudan.

Please note on your donation "Soccer for Peace."

June 2026 - MAMA Project, Inc., in partnership with Transformation of the World In Christ, donated chalkboards and chalk to the Primary School in the Madou IDP Camp to help improve learning conditions for displaced children. Previously, teachers often had to rely on scraps of cardboard as teaching aids. With the addition of proper chalkboards, they now have a more effective tool for instruction, making it easier to educate and engage their students.
