What a beautiful evening celebrating 10 years of the LAN Foundation! 🎉

PRAC was honored to receive the Esperanza Award. Esperanza means “hope,” and that word speaks to the heart of our work. Every person who comes through our doors brings their own story, challenges, and hopes for what comes next. This recognition reminds us of the lives we’ve had the privilege to touch and of the staff, partners, and community members who make that work possible.

The evening was also a chance to connect, reflect, and remember why we do what we do. Thank you to the LAN Foundation for this honor and for bringing our community together.

Congratulations to all the honorees celebrated that evening: M. Teresa Ruiz, Honorable Gary S. Stein, Steve Sweeney, Lazaro Cardenas, Christian Estevez, David Matos, Cuqui Rivera, Javier Robles, Francis Blanco, Beatriz Oesterheld, Nedia Morsy, and Bishop Antonio A. **PRAC Stands in Support of Continued Community Representation**

For more than 55 years, the Puerto Rican Action Committee of Southern New Jersey has advocated for representation, opportunity, and a voice for the communities we serve.

Today, PRAC’s Board leadership is expressing its support for **Ernesto Ortiz’s reappointment to the Cumberland County Technical Education Center (CCTEC) Board**.

We believe representation matters. Our educational institutions are strengthened when their leadership includes experienced individuals who understand and reflect the diverse communities they serve.

Ernesto’s service, community commitment, and experience on the CCTEC Board have provided an important voice at the table. PRAC supports the continuation of that service.

We invite our community to read the attached letter from PRAC Board President **Steve Torres** and Board Vice President **Brian Timberman** outlining our organization’s support.

✨ Next up: Aaliyah Ayala! ✨

Aaliyah Ayala is a dedicated middle school bilingual science teacher who leads her classroom with a passion for excellence, compassion, and love. With a Master’s degree in STEM Education and a Bachelor’s degree in Biology, she is committed to creating an environment where every student feels supported, encouraged, and challenged to give their very best. 📚🔬❤️

But Aaliyah’s impact reaches far beyond the classroom. For more than four years, she has served as a youth and young adult ministry leader, participated in local community outreach, and carried her heart for service across the globe through mission work in remote communities in Guatemala and Ghana. 🌎

Through education, ministry, and service, Aaliyah is helping shape the next generation while showing what it means to lead with purpose, compassion, and excellence.

🎉 MEET OUR FIFTH 55TH ANNIVERSARY GALA AWARDEE! 🎉

✨ Next up: Dominic Mercado! ✨

At just 18 years old, Dominic Mercado has already demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to leadership, service, and giving back to his community.

Dominic is the founder of Dom’s Pasta Party, an initiative he started in 2020 with the help of his brother Sebastian. Since then, Dom’s Pasta Party has raised approximately $80,000 and collected tens of thousands of pounds of food to support the Vineland Community Kitchen. ❤️

A 2026 graduate of the Cumberland County Technical Education Center, Dominic is now a fourth-class cadet at the United States Coast Guard Academy, where he is studying government and is a member of the Men’s Rowing Team. His accomplishments at such a young age are a powerful example of what can happen when leadership is rooted in service.
