At approximately 5:00 a.m. this morning, Station 51 responded into Station 52’s district for a reported house fire.

Before fire crews arrived, a Hopewell Valley volunteer firefighter who lives adjacent to the property alerted and assisted all 14 occupants out of the residence as the fire began extending toward the occupied dwelling.

Arriving crews found a detached garage and three vehicles in the driveway fully involved, with fire extending to the residence. The fire was quickly brought under control, limiting damage to the home.

Outstanding work by the firefighter whose quick actions helped ensure everyone exited safely, and great work by all Hopewell Valley fire companies and our mutual-aid partners!

Today we remember FF Merlin Golden of the Pennington Fire Company. FF Golden suffered a heart attack while operating a fire truck on August 4, 1966.

Pennington Fire Company would like to thank the Valley fire companies, along with our mutual aid partners from Stations 20, 31, 33, Somerset County 46 for cover and Ambulance 154, for their strong response to a working commercial kitchen fire in a 65,000-square-foot building with an open atrium.
Crews worked diligently to extinguish the fire, secure utilities, search all divisions of the building, and investigate possible fire extension through the exhaust ductwork into the third floor mechanical penthouse and roof terminations.
Thank you to all responding agencies for the teamwork, professionalism, and commitment shown throughout the incident.

Yesterday at approximately 14:00 hours, a valley-wide emergency response was initiated for a reported vehicle fire. Upon arrival, Rescue 51 personnel determined that a dump truck operating within an active construction site had caught fire while unloading a load of hay. The truck's cargo ignited, and as the vehicle moved away from the fire, the blaze spread to the truck itself and a nearby area of brush. Due to the off-road location, Rescue 51 successfully accessed the dump truck by scaling a fence and navigating dense brush on adjacent property, while Brush 51 managed the dumped hay and associated brush fire extension. Assistance from sister companies Station 50, 52, and 53 is gratefully acknowledged.

On April 18th at 22:20 hours, your Hopewell Valley volunteer fire companies responded to a reported structure fire in the 52's local area on Mountain Church Road. Responding units, including Quint 52, Rescue 52, Tanker 52, Engine 51, Tanker 51, Tower 51, SS51, Engine 53, Tanker 53, and Utility 53, quickly got the fire under control at 22:36. Given this area of the township does not have hydrants, the use of tankers was critical to provide the water necessary for fire suppression.
