It's that time of year again! Schuyler & Yates Counties are hosting the Annual Household Hazardous Waste event on Saturday, August 15th from 8:30am-12:00pm in Watkins Glen.

We will be accepting tires for $3/tire (off-rim, cars and light trucks only), all other electronic and household hazardous waste will be accepted free of charge. Public Comment Period Open – Draft Local Solid Waste Management Plan

Yates County is asking for public input on the draft Local Solid Waste Management Plan (LSWMP). This plan will help guide how waste and recycling are managed in the county over the next 10 years.

The document reviews current waste practices in Yates County and outlines possible strategies to reduce the amount of material going to landfills while improving recycling, reuse, and other waste reduction efforts.

Residents, businesses, and community members are encouraged to review the draft plan and provide any comments or questions.

The public comment period is open through March 19. Public feedback will be reviewed before the plan is finalized and submitted to New York State.
