Monday Night Fun Shoot June 15th 6:00 PM .22 Long Gong Competition
.22 LR rifle shooting competition designed to test precision at 100, 150, and 200 yards.
Equipment Rules:
* Rifles chambered in .22 Long Rifle.
* Shooters fire from a bench rest.
* Allowed: bipods and bags.
* Not allowed: sleds, tripods, or barrel tuners.
Targets:
Steel AR500 gongs approximately:
8-inch (large)
6-inch (medium)
4-inch (small)
Scoring Values:
100 yards: 8" = 1 point, 6" = 2 points, 4" = 3 points
150 yards: 8" = 4 points, 6" = 5 points, 4" = 6 points
200 yards: 8" = 7 points, 6" = 8 points, 4" = 10 points
Course of Fire:
* Each shooter starts with 10 rounds and a 5-minute time limit.
* Must begin on the 8-inch gong at 100 yards.
* Shooters may advance to smaller or farther targets only after successfully hitting the current target.
Advancement Rules:
* Hit a target โ earn points and may advance.
* Miss a target โ score zero for that shot and move back one gong level.
* To reach 200-yard targets, shooters must first progress through all gongs at 100 and 150 yards.
Match Procedures:
* Shooters must inform the scorekeeper when changing targets.
* Only solid gong hits count.
* Chain hits do not count.
* Shooting the wrong target scores zero and requires returning to the correct target.
Maximum Scores:
* Perfect 10-shot round: 56 points.
* Standard competition consists of 5 rounds (50 shots total).
* Perfect match score: 280 points.
Tie Breaker:
* Highest single-round score wins the tie.
Shooter Order:
* First round order determined by random draw.
* Subsequent rounds are shot lowest score to highest score.
* If scores are tied, the shooter who achieved that score first shoots first.
Challenge Goal:
* The match emphasizes long-range rimfire skills including accuracy, consistency, and wind reading, especially at 200 yards.
