Stop in today (3/8) Silverbird woodfired, 12-2 to meet the village candidates.
So many times I hear people say..."I dont like politics..." or "I just stay out of it.." or "I dont want conflict.."
Local politics is NOT national politics.
Local municipalities are in charge of our water, electric, roads, parks, playgrounds, law enforcement, codes, local laws and regulations.
When you get to know whats going on and get involved in your local community, your able to understand the full picture.
How come we didnt fix this road but did that one?
How come we dont allow yard signs from sidewalk to street?
Whats the difference between eminent domain and annexation?
There is a sidewalk program where I can get help fixing the one out front grandma trips on?
Why is leaf pickup changing?
Where did the decision to have a new police car come from?
While the people we elect are asked to make those decisions for us. If we dont stay informed and involved, thats when things happen. Not out of malice or ill will but out of ease. When we dont stay informed, hold accountable our leadership and engage in voting, we allow leaders to just get comfortable doing what they want.
Sometimes you'll get people who make rule after rule creating a police state. Other times youll get people who make choices behind closed doors and not in the legal format. Other times nothing gets done at all.....
Voting is a very important part of our role in society. If we dont speak our minds at the polls, we end up having a misrepresentation of the people on the boards.
Take the time to get to know those who want to lead us. Knowledge is power.
