A recent study out of UC Davis aligns with an important principle reflected in the EACPA environment: Students benefit from spaces that support connection, calm, belonging, and emotional well-being alongside academic growth.

Our environment has been intentionally designed to recognize the whole student—creating opportunities for meaningful relationships, engagement, confidence, and a sense of community.

Because preparing students for college and life is about more than what happens inside a classroom. The environment we create can shape how students feel, connect, learn, and thrive.

🐴💚 At EACPA, we’re building an environment where students can grow academically, socially, and emotionally.

The Tongue 👅 is one of the most sensitive parts of your horse's mouth and the most prone to injury.

This very large muscle extends from its tip, which you can see, to the hyoid apparatus and its attachment to the ramus of the mandible at the back.

The tongue is vital for swallowing and influencing the hyoid apparatus

Like any other muscle, restriction or tension within it can induce a muscular chain reaction.

The sensitivity of the tongue is a crucial consideration when fitting a bit. An ill-fitting or harsh bit or excessive pressure on the bit from your hands can cause pain discomfort and sometimes a permanent change in sensitivity.
In some cases it can result in tension throughout the body and poor performance.

A Statement from EACPA

It has come to our attention that, a local horse owner has publicly shared comments about EACPA that are inaccurate and misleading.

Because these statements have now been made publicly and have affected not only me, but also EACPA, our partners, our founders, and the individuals who work within our organization, we feel it is important to respond publicly and provide our community with accurate information.

Here are the facts about EACPA:

EACPA is a organization working with accredited educational institutions serving students in grades 2–12. We are committed to providing meaningful educational opportunities for young people while creating a positive and supportive environment for equine enthusiasts.

Out of respect for our real estate partners, we had previously chosen not to publicly disclose the address of our flagship EACPA location. However, in light of the recent public statements, we and our real estate partners have agreed that it is appropriate to share that information.

EACPA and a well-respected local family are working in a close, collaborative partnership to bring this school to our community.

On July 8, 2026, representatives of EACPA and the Martines family visited the county and met with the Building and Planning Department regarding our plans. We were told the property will support our plans and that are no restrictions to bringing this to our community. We were provided with guidance regarding the requirements for moving forward, and we are actively pursuing the permitting process. The county provided us with a list of required items, and we are currently working through that list.

Recent donations, as well as upcoming fundraising efforts, will help cover the costs associated with permitting and support our exceptional teaching staff.

Our educators and industry professionals include nationally recognized breeders, highly respected equine professionals, and individuals with extensive experience within the equine industry—including one instructor who served as the farrier for McKinleigh *silver metal winner at the Beijing Olympics.

We believe that education, horsemanship, professionalism, respect and community should go hand in hand.

One of the core purposes of EACPA is to help change a culture in which online attacks, rumors, bullying, and malicious gossip can become normalized within the horse community. We believe disagreements should be handled through respectful, direct communication rather than public accusations or the spread of false statements.

We are incredibly grateful to the Martines family for their support and partnership collaboration . 🙏 Together, we look forward to creating a sanctuary and educational environment where young people, families, and equine enthusiasts can feel welcomed, supported, and protected from the type of online bullying and harassment that can be so damaging.

There is no need to spread false or unverified chatter in an attempt to damage an individual or organization—especially an organization whose purpose is to support youth, education, and equine enthusiasts both locally and across the country.

We invite everyone to learn more about EACPA through our website and to reach out directly with questions. We are always happy to provide information and have a respectful conversation.

EACPA is committed to being part of the uplifting and enriching environment that our community deserves and joining our fellow educators in this community with a shared sprit of respect, accountability, education, and compassion.

We are incredibly excited about what we are building and look forward to serving the equine community of Penn Valley, our surrounding communities, and equine enthusiasts nationwide.

Please visit our website to learn more. You may also contact EACPA by phone or email, and one of our founders or representatives will be happy to respond.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us, believed in our mission, and continues to help us build something truly meaningful for our community.

Researchers showed horses photographs of people they had met before.
The horses recognized the faces.
And here is the part that stopped me cold.
They also remembered whether that person had been kind to them.
When the person in the photograph had been patient and calm, the horse approached them warmly.
When the person had been rough or anxious, the horse was guarded.
From a photograph.

Of someone they had met once.
The horse held you accountable for how you showed up the last time.
I tell my students this on day one.
You cannot fake your history with a horse.
Every interaction is remembered.
Every choice is recorded.
That feedback loop is the curriculum.

Today...our thousand pound teammates ride in comfort. 🚛🐴

Equine transportation has certainly changed, but one thing hasn't: every horse owner needs to know how to safely transport their horse (s).

That's why our Adult Horse Hauling Course at the Horse Park is so important

Whether you've never towed a trailer before or just want to build your confidence, we'll teach you:
✅ Government requirements and legal responsibilities
✅ Trailer maintenance and safety checks
✅ How to safely hitch and unhitch your trailer
✅ Safe trailer driving skills
✅ Most importantly, how to safely load and unload your horse

Because emergencies don't wait.
A fire. An injury. A sudden illness. A natural disaster. One day you may need to load your horse quickly—or help someone else save theirs.

Our goal is to make sure that when that day comes, you're not relying on luck, or "winging it"
You'll have the knowledge, skills, and confidence to safely load, haul, and protect your horse.

If no one has ever had the opportunity to teach you, we've got you covered.
Stay tuned for course dates and registration. Your horse is counting on you. ❤️🐴

Here is something most people do not know about horses.
They can see almost all the way around their own body — 350 degrees of vision.
But they have two blind spots.
Right in front of their nose.
Right behind their tail.

The things closest to them and the things directly behind them are completely invisible.
I use this in my curriculum because it applies to more than horsemanship.
The biggest blind spots in leadership, in learning, and in life are usually the things closest to us — the assumptions we never question because they feel obvious — and the things directly behind us — the patterns we carry without realizing they are there.

Wide awareness and specific blind spots coexist in every system.
The horse just makes that truth visible.
