Race to the Top Scholarship

Race to the Top Scholarship Created to honor the life and character of Khalil Mohmed who achieved much in his education, profession and life. WHAT DOES "RACE TO THE TOP" MEAN?

Khalil Mohmed is the inspiration for the “Race to the Top” Scholarship because he possessed so many winning characteristics in his education, profession and life. He was extremely goal oriented and worked hard to successfully achieve each of those goals. Khalil was never one to do something slow or procrastinated. He was strong, fast and efficient, hence “Race to the Top.” He was always willing t

o do the work to get the job done, often working overtime on any project whether it be on the job, working on his cars or bike, or keeping on a strict schedule of work-outs and a vegetarian diet. He worked hard and achieved much, all with his touching personality and stunning smile. Khalil attended University of Florida and was part of many organizations. He acted in plays and modeled on the side. He held part-time jobs and volunteered locally in Florida. His most prized organization was the University of Florida Society of Automotive Engineers (UFSAE). He was always busy with many different side projects. Khalil loved to ski, surf, golf, and drive fast and participate in any sport that presented itself. Khalil came to Pendleton, Oregon, in January of 2007. He was a founding member of Cayuse Technologies. He mentored the new recruits, teaching them how to be good employees and contribute to becoming a great company. He had an incredible professional touch and was respected by all of his colleagues. He continued to push his work ethic and was recognized as a top Accenture employee. Most importantly, Khalil loved to help people. He was extremely active in many volunteer efforts. It was important to him to be a positive example and role model to those around him. He always had positive words and advice in any situation. He was a leader and wonderful friend, setting an example for others to follow. Khalil was very family oriented and often traveled back and forth between Nevada and Arizona to visit his family. He loved life and made positive decisions to ensure he was successful, happy and inspirational. Khalil left us July 18, 2010, as the result of a collision while racing in a Washington Motorcycle Road Racing Association competition. He was just 27 years old. He will always be a part of the Cayuse Technologies family as well as a beloved friend to those who knew him; we honor him with this scholarship fund to continue his legacy of helping others in achieving their goals in life, education and career.
