Artisans in Pendleton and its surrounding communities face barriers to building successful businesses due to the lack of availability of specific resources needed (community support, spaces, education, mentorship) to grow and thrive. Impact Statement

Tomorrow's the day! Come down and see the Free Little Art Gallery (FLAG) at MorningstarBlends during Farmers Market!

Do you have a pocket size piece of art that you have made? Bring it on down and "take a piece and leave a piece!"

What's the purpose of a FLAG, you ask... A Free Little Art Gallery (often called a “FLAG”) is a small, usually outdoor box or display where people can leave art for others and take art for free. Its purpose is broader than just displaying artwork—it’s about community, accessibility, and creativity.

1. Make art accessible to everyone
•Traditional galleries can feel exclusive or expensive.
•These tiny galleries let anyone view or take art at no cost, lowering barriers to enjoying art.

2. Encourage creativity and participation
•Anyone—kids, amateurs, or professional artists—can create and share their work.
•The idea is: “take art, leave art.”

3. Build community connections
•People interact through art—leaving something behind for others or discovering local creativity.
•This shared exchange helps bring neighbors together and spark conversations.

4. Reduce barriers in the art world
•The movement exists partly because traditional art spaces can feel intimidating or inaccessible.
•These galleries create a more welcoming, informal environment.

5. Share joy and inspiration
•Visitors might find something meaningful, funny, or beautiful and take it home.

We're in the final stretch!! Pendletons Free Little Art Gallery will be making its debut at Morningstar Blends Friday the 5th during farmers market!

The rest of the time it will be located at Pendleton ceramics on the corner of Main and Court. But watch out, in the future it might be making visits to different downtown businesses!👀

A Free Little Art Gallery (FLAG) operates on a "take a piece, leave a piece" concept. People are encouraged to create and share miniature art, sculptures, or crafts without any money involved. The goal is to make art accessible to everyone and foster a sense of community.

LORIE BAXTER: EDGES is currently on view in the Feves Gallery!
Regular Gallery Hours: Monday-Thursday 9:30 am-1:30 pm; gallery admission is always free.

The gallery is also open during the intermission of the College Community Theatre's current production, the funny murder-mystery, Clue!

Visit our Spring Term exhibition featuring vibrant abstract paintings by Lorie Baxter. An instrumental figure in Pendleton’s arts community for more than four decades, Baxter helped found the Feves Gallery, among many other notable contributions to the area. Her expressive paintings reflect her experiences living in both Eastern Oregon and the coast.

Good morning and happy Sunday! There has been a LOT of behind-the-scenes action. Our website is up and running, we've been trying to organize and ART Walk ( not enough people signed up yet 😔), we're planning quarterly artist meet-ups. We've started on a strategic plan for an artist's co-op that we hope to bring to fruition in the future. We are also still asking people to take our survey!

1. the WEBSITE! Go check in out! Www.pendletonartisannetwork.org. We are offering both artists and artisans a page of your own on our website featuring you, your work, and links to your social media, or locations where people can purchase your work or services. The first year is FREE! Then it will only be $45 a year to have this membership feature.
All you must do is: email us a photo of you, or a photo you want to represent you, an artists bio, a few photos of your work, your social media or website URL'S and/or locations customers can find your work.

2. We are still collecting surveys! Know an artist/ artisan person who may be interested? Please share this post with them. The attached QR code will take you there.

4. I am diligently working on getting the Free Little Art Gallery ready for its debut on June 5th at 4pm! This coming Friday it will be located outside of Morningstar Blends, during Farmers Market. We need little pocket sized art for its debut!

Starting next month, once a month I want to move it to a downtown business, and make a post on social media that the first person to find the FLAG and post where it is will receive a gift from that business.

The rest of the time the portable FLAG will live at Pendleton Ceramics, on the corner of Main and Court.

The concept- leave a piece, take a piece. Spread the art of love!

Free Little Art Gallery — “FLAG” for short — is a community project encouraging everyone to create and share art. If you see something in the gallery you like, take it home. Or create something you want to share and leave it for someone else to take away and love.

An important difference between Little Free Libraries and FLAGs is that people who put a book into a Little Free Library, generally didn’t write the book themselves. FLAGs are about encouraging people to create.
