Preserving History. Improving Access.

Sometimes a fence does more than create a boundary. It opens doors!
With support from a Pendleton Foundation Trust grant, the Umatilla County Historical Society installed new fencing around the historic Byrd Schoolhouse, creating a safer, more welcoming environment for visitors and school tours.

The impact has been significant! The fencing has allowed the museum to expand visitor access in ways that haven't been possible for more than a decade, while also reducing unwanted activity and ongoing maintenance costs.

We're proud to support a project that protects an important piece of Pendleton's history and helps ensure it can be enjoyed by future generations.

For nearly 100 years, Pendleton Foundation Trust has helped turn that generosity into lasting investments in our community, supporting projects that enrich lives, strengthen local organizations, and make Pendleton an even better place to live.

As we review this fall's grant applications, we're once again reminded of the wonderful people and organizations working to make good things happen right here at home.

Last weekend, we had the opportunity to attend a presentation from the Rivoli Restoration Coalition highlighting how much has already been accomplished in the theater’s restoration, along with plans for the next phase from the project’s architect and builder.

Projects like this can sometimes seem slow from the outside, but hearing about the work underway was a great reminder of the careful, complex process involved in bringing a historic building back to life. The progress is real, and the vision for what the Rivoli can become for Pendleton is exciting.

Pendleton Foundation Trust is proud to have partnered with the Historic Rivoli Coalition through grant support for this restoration work. Preserving an important piece of Pendleton’s history while creating a vibrant community gathering place for the future is the kind of long-term community investment we are proud to support.

The Rivoli is a fascinating book about the history of the theater and Pendleton’s entertainment past. We highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys local history, and proceeds from book sales help support the Rivoli restoration.

We’re excited to see the next chapter of the Rivoli take shape and grateful for the many people working to bring this historic landmark back to life.

The Pendleton Foundation Trust grant deadline is October 1, so now is the time to get those applications submitted.

If your eligible nonprofit organization or public entity has a project that will benefit Pendleton residents, we’d love to hear about it.

One week to go!

Pendleton Foundation Trust’s Fall Grant Cycle deadline is October 1.

Eligible local nonprofit organizations and public entities seeking funding for projects that benefit Pendleton residents are encouraged to submit their applications by the deadline.

A strong application should clearly explain:
• What your project will accomplish
• Who in the Pendleton community will benefit
• How the project will be funded
• The lasting impact your project will have

Applications are due October 1.

We look forward to learning more about the proposed projects and the organizations working to make a difference in Pendleton.

Round-Up brought us together with Oregon alumni for the annual Let ’er Buck Breakfast.

Senator Duck (Bill Hansell) was there to introduce this year’s Let ’er Duck Scholarship recipient, Noemi Alvarez Barroso, who will attend the University of Oregon this fall to study Environmental Design in the School of Architecture and Environment.

The Eastern Oregon Ducks chapter of the University of Oregon Alumni Association established the Let ’er Duck Scholarship Fund at Pendleton Foundation Trust in 2009 to help Eastern Oregon high school graduates pursue their education at the University of Oregon.

Congratulations, Noemi, and thank you to everyone who continues to support this wonderful tradition. This year’s breakfast raised more than $4,000 for the scholarship fund.

Today, Pendleton wears pink.

For 20 years, Tough Enough To Wear Pink at Round-up has brought us together to honor survivors, remember those we have lost, and support local breast cancer patients during and after treatment.

Pendleton Foundation Trust is proud to support this milestone year with a grant funding a special video for the Survivors Walk, along with new shade banners and flags to help promote TETWP throughout Round-Up.

There is something powerful about seeing an entire rodeo arena turn pink in support of friends, neighbors, and families in our community.

We’re grateful to be part of a tradition that brings everyone together around support for local cancer patients.

For generations, the VFW Outdoor Cowboy Breakfast has been a favorite Round-Up tradition, bringing people together over a hearty breakfast and familiar faces.

Stillman Park has been bringing people together since 1936, when Minnie Stillman donated the property to Pendleton Foundation Trust with the request that it become a city park. Over the years, PFT grants have helped support improvements to the park, including the area where the Cowboy Breakfast is still served today.

We love seeing a nearly 90-year-old gift to our community continue to be part of Round-Up week.

Good food, good company, and a great Pendleton tradition.

It’s Round-Up week in Pendleton, a time when our community’s western heritage is on full display and generations come together to celebrate traditions that have helped shape our town.

It also feels like the perfect time to celebrate the Jill and Mike Thorne Western Heritage Fund at Pendleton Foundation Trust.

Jill and Mike created this fund to provide lasting support for three organizations that mean a great deal to them: the Pendleton Round-Up Association, Happy Canyon, and the Pendleton Round-Up and Happy Canyon Hall of Fame.

Together, these organizations do so much more than preserve Pendleton’s western heritage. They keep traditions alive, tell our community’s story, bring people together, and create important economic opportunities for Pendleton year after year.

The Jill and Mike Thorne Western Heritage Fund is also a wonderful example of what a legacy can look like.

A charitable fund can reflect something deeply personal to the people who create it, whether that is a passion, a tradition, an organization, or a part of the community they want to see thrive for generations to come. Jill and Mike chose to invest in something they value: Pendleton’s western heritage and the organizations that help carry it forward.

Pendleton Foundation Trust is incredibly grateful to Jill and Mike for their generosity, their vision, and their commitment to the future of Pendleton.

As we celebrate another Round-Up week, we also celebrate the people who make sure the traditions we treasure today will continue long into the future.

Let ’er Buck, and here’s to preserving the heritage that makes Pendleton such a special place.
