UCo Plan4Health

UCo Plan4Health UCo Plan4Health works at the intersection of planning and public health to increase access to healthy food and physical activity in Umatilla County.

Plan4Health is a three-year project funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) through the American Planning Association’s Planning and Community Health Center. After a competitive review process, Umatilla County has been chosen as one of 17 communities across the country to receive a Plan4Health grant. The purpose of this grant is to develop capacity building efforts here in U

matilla County. During the funding period, we will be bringing together key stakeholders who have a desire to build a healthier community through increased physical activity and access to nutritious food. In addition to partnership building, we will develop a Community Action Plan based upon the assessments, findings and community interest. Planning in the United States originated with a public health focus, and joined public health in the shared purpose of urban reform and disease prevention. The two professions have diverged, but these common roots reflect shared values: the built environment impacts all aspects of our health. As planners and public health professionals, Plan4Health wants to engage community members to make changes that will lead to healthier places. Plan4Health hopes to be a catalyst for collective action toward a healthier future!
