South Madison Fire Territory is proud to be able to be a part of this initiative. This brings more available equipment to the area and allows for a much faster response to locate missing and at risk children and adults. This equipment has been used on more than one occasion in southern Madison County with great results. Thank you to Community Hospital Anderson for the funding to make this happen.

It has been busy in southern Madison County as you are all aware. Water rescues began locally yesterday afternoon and a crew was also sent to New Castle to assist with their evacuations. This morning started off early with multiple back to back water rescues as well as many other 911 calls for service. Thanks to members from East Madison Firefighters Local 5402, Hamilton County Fire Fighters Local 4416, Anderson Fire Fighters Local 1262 for the much needed help to get people to safety quickly. Our crews are still out there and taking calls as we prepare for whatever the next couple of days may bring. A very special thanks also goes out to those who have helped with transportation, housing, supplies for the crews, and many other things we are sure we haven't mentioned. South Madison Community School Corporation , Solid Rock Baptist Church , Pendleton Christian Church , REMAX Legacy, Needler's Fresh Market , Pizza Hut , Smith Family Farms , SMFT auxiliary, IMI Pendleton, Doris and Ron Filbrun, Kyle and Jill Hupfer, and others that we apologize if we missed. The outpouring of support for this community is always anazing and we thank you all. Stay safe.

South Madison is hiring again. Process is open to laterals, new hires, and civilian paramedic. Current paramedic certification is required!!

Last night was the official pinning ceremony for the 30 lateral transfers, civilian paramedics, and new recruits that were hired onto the department this year. This almost doubles the size of our department staffing and allows us to continue to provide full time advanced life support and fire coverage from 4 fire houses, covering approximately 130 square miles. We also promoted 2 members to the rank of captain and 1 to lieutenant. Congratulations to all of you and welcome to South Madison Fire Territory and the start of an amazing career!!

It's that time of year again to start planning your fall golf outings. This is the second year for our event and promises to be a great day of brotherhood, comraderie and friendly competition. Saturday, October 17th, 2026.

The members of Local 5417 extend our condolences to the brothers and sisters of the Indianapolis Fire Department local 416, and the family of Private Nathaniel J. Thomas, who lost his life while on orders at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, serving as a Sergeant with the Indiana National Guard.

He leaves behind his wife, Morgan, and their five children: Rilynn, Donny, Maggie, Harper, and Wiley.
