The Carey Family Foundation including Vernon Carey Sr., LaTavia Carey, presented $15,000 in scholarships to seniors at Miami Norland Senior High School, Miami Carol City Senior High School, Miami Central High School, Booker T. Washington Senior High School, Miami Northwestern High School and Miami Edison High School. Each of the six scholarship recipients received $2,500 and an iPad to use towards their college education during a special luncheon at on May 7.

Dr. Dorothy Bendross-Mindingall, School Board Member, honored Mr. Carey for his outstanding contributions to our community and the youth of Miami-Dade County. Mr. Carey has been recognized as a product of and a difference maker within Miami-Dade Public Schools. This special ceremony took place on January 15, 2025, at the School Board Building. We thank the School Board for recognizing Mr. Carey’s achievements and the impact he has made within the educational community.
