g treatment, Michael was able to gain a full understanding of the needed awareness, programs, and community support required for the effective prevention and treatment of substance use. Stunned upon hearing of the overdose of a young man, Dwayne Paul Jones, whom attended his childhood Church of Prospect United Methodist, Michael was inspired to return to his birth community and delved into creating a program to help prevent substance use and the senseless loss of life that it creates. Michael was a passionate man who was dedicated to his job, family, and community. He was also a die-hard North Carolina State fan. Tragically, family, friends, the community, and Stop the Pain lost Michael in a house fire in December of 2016. Dwayne Paul Jones (12/12/89 to 9/30/12), the inspiration for Stop the Pain, was an accomplished young man. Dwayne was a multi-sport athlete, Eagle Scout, college student and respected employee. He was committed to being a loving brother, son, father and friend. With the tremendous pain created by the loss of his life, has come the recognition of the immense contribution to Stop the Pain his life continues to inspire.
