Weโve seen a significant increased effort by federal agencies to combat the fentanyl epidemic plaguing our nation, but we cannot afford to relax. This problem cannot be resolved by law enforcement and legislators alone. We must fight it at the grass roots level, in churches, schools, and homes. We must band together as a community to get informed, recognize the danger, know how to react, and then talk openly about it with our friends and loved ones.
We rightfully take pride in the fact that our community took a stand against the K*K in 1958. That cold January night in Maxton, NC, some brave people gathered to aggressively protect our county. Fast forward to today, and we see our citizens steadily dying from a larger threat than the K*K ever presentedโฆyet it largely goes unspoken. Keeping it quiet only benefits the criminals who are purposefully flooding our area with poison, profiting from our silence, shame, and fear. Donโt let them win!
