CAN WE CHANGE A HARDENED HEART? - Dr. Charles Stanley- “In Touch” devotional- June 11, 2026

“A hardened heart doesn’t develop overnight. Often it begins when we become preoccupied with things of little spiritual value. Once our focus drifts from God, these distractions gradually consume more of our time and attention. Before we realize it, what matters most to the Lord has been crowded out.”

“As our spiritual life weakens, habits like genuine devotion and worship may fall away. When we function apart from God, our heart naturally becomes self-focused and less sensitive to His voice.”

“This is when we become most vulnerable. With our attention elsewhere and our heart growing distant, we can more easily rationalize choices we once would have recognized as sin. The Holy Spirit’s gentle promptings become muffled, and temptation grows stronger.”

“Scripture warns that even sincere believers are susceptible to this gradual hardening (v. 13). But we’re not without hope. Through honest repentance and renewed devotion to God, our heart can be soft again. As we return to Him in worship and prayer, sensitivity to His Spirit is restored, and we rediscover the joy of walking closely with Him.”

THE DANGER OF A HARDENING HEART- Dr. Charles Stanley- “In Touch”- June 10, 2026

“The Hebrew people who left Egypt witnessed God’s power firsthand—the plagues, the parted sea, the pillar of fire. Yet when the time came to claim their promised land, they refused to believe God would give them victory over Canaan’s inhabitants. Despite Joshua and Caleb’s passionate pleas, the people rebelled, inventing justifications for their unbelief.”

“The Lord’s response was sobering: 40 years of wandering in the desert (Numbers 14:33-36). That generation wouldn’t enter the land He had prepared for them. Because this lesson about unbelief and its consequences was so vital, God referenced it again in the New Testament (Hebrews 3:7-11). He didn’t want anyone to repeat such a costly mistake.”

“How does a heart become hardened? It’s a gradual process that begins with selective belief—hearing God’s Word but not fully accepting it as true. This leads to trying to manage one’s affairs without the Lord’s guidance. Over time, the person ignores the conscience or justifies unscriptural choices. Eventually, the heart becomes so resistant that the Spirit’s voice can’t be heard.”

“If you sense your heart growing hard, there’s hope. Confess your unbelief to the Lord, and ask Him to restore receptivity to His will.”

OUR FUTURE WITH CHRIST- Karen Huang- “Our Daily Bread”- June 11, 2026

“Visiting Switzerland had been my dad’s lifelong dream. After his diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia, my mom decided to go with him while he was still physically able. ‘One day, with the snow blowing around us on Mount Titlis,’ she said, ‘I saw the profound joy in your father’s face. It was the joy of a dream come true.’ Later, however, my mom’s tears flowed when my dad asked, ‘Where are we again?’”

“My dad may have forgotten he was in Switzerland, but ‘the visit was worth it,’ my mom said. ‘At least for one moment, he knew, and he was happy.’”

“God reassures us of a time when joy will never be taken away from us again. Because of our hope in Jesus, we can look forward to ‘a new heaven and a new earth’ (Revelation 21:1), where we’ll be free from sin and death (Romans 5:12). In this perfect world, God will make ‘everything new’ (Revelation 21:5). ‘He will wipe every tear from [our] eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away’ (v. 4). Whatever suffering we experience now is temporary. God promises that one day ‘the former things will not be remembered’ (Isaiah 65:17). They will forever be no more.”

“I know that one day, when we’re with God (Revelation 21:3), I’ll see profound joy on Daddy’s face. This time, it will stay.”

REFLECT AND PRAY

“How does the hope of your future dwelling place give you hope now? What do you look forward to seeing there?”

“Dear Jesus, I praise You. One day, You’ll make all things new.”

COME, HOLY SPIRIT- Dr. David Jeremiah- “Turning Point”- June 10, 2026

“Christians think differently than those without the Lord. Paul said, ‘But we have the mind of Christ’ (1 Corinthians 2:16). He told us to ‘be renewed in the spirit of your mind’ (Ephesians 4:23).”

“When we receive Christ as Savior, the Holy Spirit begins to refurbish our minds. The Spirit takes the words of Scripture and makes them real to us and real in us. He bears witness with our spirits that we are God’s children and that the sufferings of this world are not worth comparing to our future glory (Romans 8:18).”

“The Holy Spirit gives us the ability to face life in a different way. When we encounter a crisis, the Holy Spirit strengthens us with the knowledge of God, which gives us perspective. That provides confidence and strength to see beyond the crisis and to focus on the Lord.”

“If you’re facing a difficult situation, ask the Holy Spirit to give you His divine perspective.”

THE GREAT OUTDOORS: NATURE DECLARES HIS GLORY- Dr. David Jeremiah- “Turning Point”- June 6/7, 2026

“As we step into summer, many of us take steps into the great outdoors to enjoy God’s creation in the warm sunlight of the season. Some will take hikes up mountain pathways; others will walk to the edge of canyons or to the top of gushing waterfalls. But even a walk down the street or through the park—if we will only focus—shows us lilies, daisies, billowing clouds, chirping birds, and calming breezes.”

“Psalm 125:2 says, ‘As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the Lord surrounds His people from this time forth and forever.’ Psalm 148 says, ‘Mountains and all hills; fruitful trees and all cedars…. Let them praise the name of the Lord, for His name alone is exalted; His glory is above the earth and heaven’ (verses 9, 13).”

“Romans 1:20 tells us that God’s invisible power and glorious attributes can be seen in what He has made. Take time to enjoy the birds, flowers, stars, leaves, plants, hills, and brooks He has made. Praise Him and know that if He cares for His great outdoors, He will also care for you.”

“The world was no doubt made, that it might be the theater of the divine glory.”

GOD’S PROVISION- Elisa Morgan- “Our Daily Bread”- June 6, 2026

“I was putting my grandson to bed during a sleepover. When his Bible bookmark opened to Psalm 23, he objected, ‘We already read this one.’ After I suggested we might learn something new, he read aloud, ‘The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastries.’ Green pastries?! I explained that the word was pastures, not pastries. Hours earlier, he’d stood before a bakery shelf, selecting treats. His interpretation came into focus: To him, a bakery conveyed a place of rest and enjoyment.”

“Psalm 23 may be so familiar to us that we miss its deep offering. David, a king well acquainted with shepherding, describes God’s provision over a lifetime of things both idyllic (vv. 5-6) and challenging (v. 4). He points out that our good God leads us to places where we can partake of His presence, be rejuvenated, and prepare for what will come. ‘Green pastures’ (v. 1) and ‘quiet waters’ (v. 2) are such dwellings for sheep, and we are God’s sheep (v. 1).”

“My grandson’s innocent interpretation opened my eyes to the ‘green pastures’ God provides for me—places of rest and enjoyment in everyday life where He restores me. A gold-hued sunset. A verdant field. A quiet corner. A bakery shelf of green pastries, wafting out delight. I’m so glad we read Psalm 23 again!”

Reflect & Pray

“What unexpected ‘green pasture’ moment have you experienced? How does Psalm 23 invite you into the provision of God’s presence?”

“Dear God, please open my eyes to the ‘green pasture’ moments You provide. Help me to enter Your presence each day.”

FREEDOM IN GOD’S LOVE- Monica LaRose- “Our Daily Bread”- June 4, 2026

“If you’ve ever heard the expression ‘albatross around my neck’—a phrase referring to a tiresome burden—you’ve heard an allusion to English poet Samuel Coleridge’s famous poem ‘Rime of the Ancient Mariner.’ In the poem, a sailor shoots and kills a harmless, friendly albatross. The crew believes the mariner’s cruel deed curses their voyage and forces him to wear the dead bird around his neck as punishment.”

“Are there regrets in your life that feel like a heavy weight around your neck? All of us have moments we’d do anything to take back. It can feel like we’re cursed to carry the weight of our guilt and regret forever.”

“Yet God’s grace can free our hearts from even the most painful regret. We all have sin (1 John 1:8, 10), but when we honestly confess our burdens to God, we’re promised he ‘will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness’ (v. 9). As His grace rushes in, His light and love can flow through us (2:10), freeing us to love those around us (3:14).”

“In Coleridge’s poem, the tormented mariner also eventually experiences this grace. When love for God’s creation rushes into his heart and compels him to pray, the albatross falls off his neck, vanishing forever ‘like lead into the sea.’”

Reflect & Pray

“What can feel like an ‘albatross’ around your neck? What does it mean for you to accept God’s grace for your guilt?”

“Dear God, thank You that the guilt I carry doesn’t exclude me from experiencing Your beauty and grace. Please help me find freedom in Your love today.”

I WLL FEAR NO EVIL- Vanessa Ekhaese (Lagos State, Nigeria)- “The Upper Room”- June 2, 2026

“One Tuesday evening I was in our living room watching the news when my mother’s phone rang. As she answered, her face drained of color, and I knew something was terribly wrong. Before I could ask, a headline flashed on the screen: “’Tragic car crash claims the life of Mr. David Churchill.’”

“David, our kind and vibrant choir leader, was gone. Just the Sunday before, he had led us in a powerful song. My heart sank, and emotions swirled within me.”

“As I processed the news, a deep unease settled within me. Is this how life works? One moment, everything is fine, and the next, it’s gone? What if I die unexpectedly? The flickering images of the wrecked car on the screen haunted me.”

“For fifteen years, the unpredictability of life cast a shadow over every moment of my life. My struggle led me to God. I thought giving my life to Christ would make my fear disappear, but it didn’t happen. One day, out of utter frustration, I picked up my Bible, thinking surely there was a way for God to help me overcome this fear of death. So I incorporated Bible study into my daily life. Every time I studied, the character of God became clearer to me.”

“I began trusting God’s presence and finding courage in God’s promises. Psalm 23:4 became my comfort, and I prayed this scripture whenever I felt afraid. Slowly, my faith grew, and my fear dissipated as I released it to God.”

TODAY’S PRAYER
“Thank you, heavenly Father, for being our refuge and our very present help. In Jesus’ name. Amen.”

TRAVELING COMPANIONS- Mandy Yatta (Mississippi, USA)- “The Upper Room”- June 1, 2026

“When my son was in kindergarten, I had the pleasure of meeting Michelle, the mother of another student. I felt an instant connection with her — as if we were kindred spirits. Working full time while juggling parenting duties was overwhelming, but Michelle had a calming presence. I felt grounded when I was near her.”

“She invited me to a gospel concert one Friday night and then to church. I hadn’t been to church in years, but I said yes. No doubt it was the Holy Spirit working in me.”

“I felt that this friendship was God’s divine work. Michelle was my Barnabas — my encourager. Barnabas found Saul and brought him to Antioch, planting him in a community that God was growing (see Acts 11:25-26). They were traveling companions on a missionary journey.”

“I am so thankful for the faithful friends God has placed in my life as my traveling companions. I need encouragement. I need the example of other believers living out their faith. I’m thankful for my encouragers, and I pray that I can be an encourager for others. Friends are truly a gift from God.”

Today's Prayer
“Dear heavenly Father, thank you for the people who encourage us in our faith. Help us to sow seeds of encouragement for others with our words and actions. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.”

A LOVE THAT TRANSFORMS- Dr. Charles Stanley- “In Touch” devotional- May 31, 2026

“If we responded simply from natural impulses, we’d be kind to those who are kind to us and vengeful toward those who hurt us. It’s human nature.”

“Jesus clearly teaches us to love even our enemies. And He lived out what He taught: Christ loved us enough to die for us while we were still sinners (Romans 5:8-10). He offered His love without waiting for us to be deserving of it.”

“When we respond to hostility with love, something remarkable happens. First, the Father is pleased, which brings His children joy, peace, and deep satisfaction. Second, we get to watch how God moves in the relationship. Sometimes hearts soften. Sometimes reconciliation happens. Sometimes we simply become more like Jesus in the process.”

“There’s also an internal transformation. We become aware that the Holy Spirit is working from within, enabling divine love to flow through us in ways we couldn’t manufacture on our own. Galatians 5:22-23 lists nine qualities of spiritual fruit that He produces in believers—and love is the first one mentioned.”

“Loving difficult people isn’t natural—it’s supernatural. And it’s one of the clearest ways others see Christ in us.”
