The Carpenter's Boat Shop is an apprenticeshop and an educational community for all people. Whether apprentices are between college and life careers, jobs and new directions, alcoholism and sobriety, or simply transitioning into retirement, the Boat Shop provides a safe harbor before setting sail on a new course in life. While considering goals and directions, apprentices live in community and lea

Last Friday, The Carpenter’s Boat Shop crew took a field trip to The Apprenticeshop in Rockland Apprenticeshop. We were given a tour by a familiar face and previous boat building instructor Matthew Dirr! Last week, we held our second Young Carpenter’s Program for the summer. Taught by previous apprentice, Jonas Rimkunas. This awesome crew learned how to build scrap-box turbo racers. Last week, the apprentices were in the shop learning how to build our Adirondack chairs. Board Members and Volunteers, Matt Filler and Todd Azadian taught the one week long course. In the end, 8 new chairs were made! They have been selling fast this summer, and it’s easy to see why! Nice work apprentices and thanks again to Matt and Todd for teaching their skills.

Last Friday, we hosted our Driftwood Workshop with George Ingram assisted by Sammy Loper (Boat Building Instructor) and Marisa Rain (Apprentice). We had a group full of creative minds who left with unique driftwood pieces. We offer this free workshop twice a year in the summer. We are sold out for August but keep an eye out for next year. We are grateful to George, Sammy, and Marisa for leading the way and all our participants who brought great energy!
