"In the beginning...": one of the most well-known phrases in the Bible; and also the very first line that begins the most important collection of histories and writings ever recorded.
The book of James can, in part, be summarized as faith in action and the wisdom of God.

Join us this year as we go back to the beginning to study Genesis, but not until after we have learned in the book of James about how to take our faith beyond ourselves to others.

We’re all enjoying summer, but that comes with missing seeing our CBS friends. Come join us for CBS In The Park on July 21 from 9:30-11:00 am at Rotary Park in Pella to see your past core group mates and meet some new ones! Whether you are a seasoned veteran or just curious about what CBS is all about, you are welcome (and so are the kids)! Don’t forget to bring your friends who may want to join, as well. We will have registration opportunities and bookmarks with our upcoming lesson to pass out for those who haven’t quite committed to the upcoming year yet. We hope to see lots of familiar and new faces there!

Faithfulness was a key part of our lesson this week. The greatest form of faithfulness the world has ever seen was Christ's sacrifice for all people. As humans we cannot earn our way to God due to our perpetual sin, but Christ's free gift of sacrifice and faithfulness is enough for all who accept. David shows through the Psalms how we as humans can be faithful in return.

Through David's trials, specifically fleeing from Saul and his son, we learn through his Psalms that he never stopped worshiping the Lord through song. Even if we are not as musically inclined as David was, we can take away that no matter our form of worship, it is still a powerful connection to God.
