If you are wondering about refugee statistics for the past year, this news was just released by several reliable news outlets.

Myth Monday 🔍

❌ MYTH: Refugees are a burden on the economy.
✅ FACT: Refugees strengthen the economy, especially over time.

While refugees may need support at first, their earnings and tax contributions grow significantly over time, often matching or exceeding the U.S. average within about a decade.

According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, refugees and asylees generate a net positive fiscal impact at every level of government, including $31.5 billion federally and $92.3 billion at the state and local level, totaling nearly $124 billion in net contributions over 15 years.

But the impact goes beyond numbers:

❣️ Refugees start businesses and create jobs
❣️ They fill critical workforce gaps in key industries
❣️ Their spending boosts local economies and small businesses
❣️ They bring innovation, skills, and resilience

Refugees aren’t a cost,
they’re an investment with long-term returns.

FACTS > FEAR.

Tomorrow marks the 46th anniversary of the Refugee Act of 1980, which has helped make it possible for more than 3 million refugees to find safety in the United States, including over 400,000 welcomed by USCRI. Behind every number is a story of resilience, courage, and hope for a better future.
