Special Stars Prom

As we all know the world around us has decided to go crazy and the Special Stars Foundation was determined not to participate and go crazy as well. Our opinion was, and still is, that this all panic and blown out of proportion by the media and others. There was certainly concern for the health of everyone, especially the kids, many of which do have weakened immune systems. It was our desire to take this one day at time maybe push it back a little and adjust as needed. Many of these kids start asking about the prom the day school starts back and look forward to it all year. The last thing we wanted to do was disappoint them!
With that said we have been dragged into the insanity by the City of Pell City and the governor of Alabama. The City of Pell City has decided to close the Civic Center indefinitely. The CEPA building which is co-owned by the city and Pell City School Board has also been closed indefinitely. Therefore, we are deeply saddened to have to inform you, that because of these circumstances which are beyond our control and no alternate venue, we are going to have to reschedule the prom to a later date yet to be determined. At this moment we don’t know when that date will be, but we are hoping we do not have to cancel the prom. With everything going on right now we are not sure what is going to happen, but we will do our best to keep you informed as soon as we find out that information ourselves.
Please keep your family safe during this crisis, as it we hope it will be a distant memory soon. We will keep you up to date via our website, www.specialstarsfoundation.com, Facebook and email as we get information ourselves.
On behalf of the foundation, Pell City Civitan Club and all our awesome sponsors and volunteers we thank you for your support. I know all the kids will be disappointed as we are. It such a joy for us to hold this event each year and see happiness it brings to everyone.

Awesome event tonight at the CEPA. Thanks to all that attended, students that volunteers, community volunteers and Civitan members. Also thanks to Alabama Power employees that helped.
