🔫June 14th, 2025 – “Fun Shoot” at the Ottawa Sportsmen’s Club in Pelkie, Michigan🔫🐦
What a fantastic day! Our “Fun Shoot” event was a success—filled with great shooting, delicious food, exciting prizes, and, most importantly, outstanding people who share a passion for improving local habitat for ruffed grouse and American woodcock.
🌲A sincere thank you to Seth Finkel, Wildlife Biologist and Project Coordinator with the Ruffed Grouse Society, for taking the time to speak with our group. Seth plays a critical role in planning and coordinating habitat improvement projects across the Ottawa National Forest. His work includes both commercial and non-commercial timber harvests, alder shearing, and shrub planting—all essential efforts to create and maintain habitat for ruffed grouse, woodcock, golden-winged warblers, and other early successional species.🌲
🍂We’d also like to extend a big thank you to Luke Statz, our chapter’s local Engagement Coordinator (also representing the Western Great Lakes region) with the Ruffed Grouse Society. Luke’s support, insight, and enthusiasm were greatly appreciated and contributed to the success of the day.🍂
🌿Lastly, thank you to our great sponsors for either monetary donations or else donating a door prize— and to everyone who came out to participate—your presence and support made this event what it was. We are grateful for this passionate community dedicated to conservation and stewardship.
AND— THANK YOU to the board members and volunteers who make this event happen!! Wouldn’t happen without you all!! 🌿
