Friends of Maplewood host over 500 local school age children each spring, to learn about the process of making Maple Syrup. John Nordstrom, along with a great group of volunteers have hosted three days so far, with six more days to go. The students learn everything from the Native American history of maple syrup making to the current day process. They are treated with ice cream topped with maple syrup before they leave.

Thank you to our wonderful volunteers and friends that came out to help the DNR with the equestrian clean up day. They made head way with the fencing around the fire hydrant area, cleaned up brush at the entrance area and cleared away barbed wire and metal along the trail. It was a very successful, fun day, according to Jerry Pederson and the team. We invite everyone to visit Maplewood State park any time through out the year. You will need a park pass, which is easily accessible on the DNR website. https://www.dnr.state.mn.us/permits/index.html
