Project Community Inc. Innovative health-related programming including: Project CHILDD, Project REWIND I (binge-drinking) and REWIND II (sexual assault prevention)

Project Community began over 30 years ago, when a small group of nurses in partnership with their community decided that people needed health care knowledge instead of just health care directions. To do this, they created programs that were innovative and entertaining, located in the community, and that charged little or nothing. This approach hasn't changed. Our mission is to create a network of

caring people to serve the needs of the communities where we all live together, and to tackle health issues at a grassroots level. Project REWIND I and II address crucial issues of physical and mental heath that are impacting our youth: binge drinking and sexual assault. The REWIND programs use current research and innovative teaching strategies to empower teens and young adults to intervene. The programs are available to schools and other groups for a nominal fee. Project CHILDD (Community Helping in Learning about Developmental Disabilities), provides free monthly social and arts programs to kids with developmental delays. Project Community, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, based in Pelham, NY.

Pelham Art Center honors Sona Davidian and Dr. Anne Frost at this year’s Heart of Gold Annual Gala on May 15 at Split Rock Golf Course.

Interim Executive Director at Pelham Art Center Nancy Mazzei offered: “Our theme, ‘Heart of Gold’ for this year’s gala is a dedication to our 2 honorees, Sona Davidian & Anne Frost. While public funding and individual giving have become highly unpredictable, Anne and Sona instead pushed for more workshops, camps and program partnerships with the Pelham Art Center. Sona and Anne’s understanding of utilizing art as a tool to inspire and help people has added a dimension to what the art center does while supporting us in turbulent times. Both these fantastic women truly have “Hearts of Gold” that reach far beyond giving. I cannot wait to honor them both.”

In addition to co-chairs Board President Christopher Dlutowski and Jaime Wright, this year’s host committee includes Board Chair Julia Fuller, Michelle Acosta, Carly Glick, Sonika Gupta, Gilyana Jones, Nancy Mazzei, Paula McKeever, Kristin Moore-Gantz, Michele Westrick, Alison Wiesenmaier.
