Squadron 555 was established in Spring of 2016 and rece
ived its charter on November 9, 2016 with fifteen charter members. Since then, we have been involved in myriad programs to support our military members, veterans, and communities - receiving numerous awards from the state- and national-level of the organization. Several members hold Detachment-level officer positions with one of our members receiving the honor of 2024 Detachment of Alabama Son of the Year. In 2022, Pelham Mayor Gary Waters, in recognition of the Squadron's efforts to serve veterans and the community, issued a proclamation declaring 9 November as SONS OF THE AMERICAN LEGION SQUADRON 555 DAY. Squadron 555 was named a national Four Pillars Squadron for 2024 & 2025. Squadron 555 is a part of the American Legion Matthew Blount Post 555 "Triple Nickel" family. Triple Nickel is a complete American Legion family with The American Legion, The Sons of the American Legion, The American Legion Auxiliary, and The American Legion Riders.
