From 2027 to 2022, Father Thomas, Guist’hau volunteered with Fidesco in Brazil. He has just accepted to now serve as Fidesco’s chaplain replacing Father Benoit. Father invites us to reflect on Mark’s Gospel verse: “Go out to all the world and proclaim the Good News to all creation” (Mk 16:15) If a person can be a missionary in many ways, what does the mission abroad teach us about the mission that we are to live close to home?

Pope Leo has sent an invitation: "Dear brothers and sisters, the month of October is now approaching, and in the Church it is dedicated in a special way to the Holy Rosary. Therefore, I invite everyone, every day of the coming month, to pray the Rosary for peace: personally, in the family, in the community.” May we take this to heart and pray especially for Fidesco’s volunteers who are currently serving on mission. Each day brings its challenges and may they be strengthened to answer YES to this noble call. Our Lady of Kibeho, pray for us. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Our_Lady_of_Kibeho

Nick Clements has started his mission! Nick arrived safely in Playa del Carmen last Thursday. He will benefit from a hand-off by Elliott who is finishing off his time of service with Fidesco USA. Nick and his teammate Sam will work closely with the current staff to then go on to personalize their mission. You too are part of this humanitarian development work by your financial and spiritual support. Sincere thanks! https://www.fidescousa.org/how-you-can-help/how-you-can-make-a-donation/

The Blanchard family presented a musical thank you to some of those present who had sponsored and who had supported them while on mission in Huáycan, Peru. They are most grateful for such a concrete role the donors played in their mission. Now they continue to move forward and will forever keep those they met and worked with in their hearts. Thank you for your continued support of Fidesco USA’s work.

Meanwhile, Elliott continues his mission in Playa del Carmen! Since this spring, Elliott has stepped up to the plate to run the Don Bosco afterschool program on his own. He writes that it is by God’s grace and prayers that he has found the right rhythm with the students alternating necessary time for homework with fun and games to attempt fatiguing them. They mostly fatigue Elliott and all involved are having a blast!

How can we adequately thank Sophie and Stephane Blanchard for their two years of service in Huáycan, Peru? They arrived back in California on Sunday with their three children and Peru will remain in their hearts forever! Thank you, Blanchard family, for your witness of putting your faith in action. Thank you for being pillars of strength to each over to complete such a humanitarian development mission. May their re-adaptation to life in the States be without too many bumps. Indeed: “Well done, good and faithful servants.”

Recognize a brother, a sister in all people, regardless of their history, language or culture.
Regardless of the language or differences: what matters is the common presence, the smile you give each other, the everyday gestures that create togetherness. Brotherhood arises when you choose to be touched by the other in simplicity and in humility. This is a Fidesco volunteer’s task!
