What an incredible day on Saturday at Picking Up Pekin 2026! 🌳♻️🗑️

More than 50 people participated in making our city more beautiful! From Downtown to Broadway to Parkway, dedicated volunteers gardened, cleaned, and picked up waste all over town. Thank you to all involved and for making a tangible difference.

Nominations are open through Monday, December 8th.
Winners will receive a visit from the Beautification Committee on the afternoon of Sunday, Dec. 14th between 1-3pm, delivering a yard sign and a Visa gift card.

Awards will be given as follows:

🎩 Master of Ceremonies (People's Choice/Most Nominations) $100
🎅 Santa's Favorite (Best in Show/Judges' Choice) $75
🤩 Grand Griswold (Most ostentatious light display) $50
🎄Traditional Tidings (Most time-honored classic) $50

The Annual Rocktober Awards recognize property owners with the best Fall/Harvest and Halloween themed decorations on their homes or businesses.

The Annual Rocktober Awards recognize property owners with the best Fall/Harvest and Halloween themed decorations on their homes or businesses. All decorations must be up by MONDAY, OCTOBER 20th. Awards will be distributed by the City of Pekin Beautification Committee. Entries will be judged based on curbside appeal only. Judges will not enter the property. Judging criteria will be based on theme, design, creativity, neatness, and overall presentation.

Winners will be chosen for the following 3 categories and will receive a yard sign designating the property as an award winner, a photo that is shared on social media outlets, and a prize of $75.00:

👻Seriously Spooky (Best Halloween Theme)
💫Gourd of the Rings (Best of the Best)

Pekin’s Rocktober Awards are open to all Pekin home and business owners. Properties entered for competition must be within the Pekin city limits and comply with the City's Code of Ordinances. Home or business owners may apply on their own behalf or nominate another property they consider festive. By self-nominating or by accepting a nomination, you grant the City of Pekin the right to publicly use your name, address and photographs of your property.

In partnership with the Pekin Marigold Festival, the City of Pekin Beautification Committee is proud to award the following properties for taking the utmost pride in the Marigold City by cultivating outstanding Marigold garden displays:

It’s that time of year, and Marigolds are showing up in gardens all over the Marigold City! In partnership with the Pekin Marigold Festival, the City of Pekin Beautification Committee is proud to again serve as sponsor for the annual festival gardening contest.

This annual contest provides community recognition and a $75.00 prize to 4 individuals/businesses/organizations who take the utmost pride in the Marigold City by cultivating outstanding Marigold garden displays on their property. The same guidelines regarding eligibility will apply to this award as all other City-sponsored beautification awards.

Don’t miss your chance at this Marigolden opportunity! Nominations open today and close at noon on Tuesday, August 19th. The winners will be publicly presented with their award at the Marigold Festival!
