Hello PEA! Our PAC Tazewell Union Educators for Students has been invited to join a commercial production to support the One Cent sales tax initiative. We are looking for members who have children who attend PCHS that would be willing to be part of this commercial. It will be a voice over highlighting teachers kids from each of the locals who are part of this PAC. It will be filmed on 10/9 from 12-5 at the Morton Library. We know this falls during Homecoming activities. If there are any members who have children who attend PCHS that are possibly interested in joining this, please send us a message on here and we will send you all of the details and contact information!

After 15 months of working without a contract, negotiations, mediation, and countless other efforts, CFT members voted to issue a strike notice on September 14th. If no movement by Friday, their members will be on strike.

On Tuesday, November 3, 2026, school districts in Tazewell County are asking voters to consider a 1% Illinois County Schools Facility Tax, also known as a one-cent tax. This one-cent tax would fund critical improvements to school facilities, creating safer, modern learning environments, while lessening the burden on homeowners by offering an alternative funding source for local schools.
This question impacts all students in Pekin, from elementary through high school. That is why all Pekin residents are invited to join us for a community information night to learn more about the County Schools Facility Tax question.
This is a joint presentation between Pekin Community High School District 303, North Pekin-Marquette Heights District 102, Pekin Public Schools District 108, South Pekin School District 137, and Spring Lake Community Consolidated School District 606.

Time: 6:30 p.m.
Location: Pekin Community High School Theater, 320 Stadium Drive, Pekin, IL 61554
Local school leaders will answer questions from community members, as well as share a presentation about how this sales tax operates, including:
✔️What would be taxed
✔️What would be exempt
✔️What the tax can be used for, by law
✔️How non-residents would contribute significantly to this tax
✔️How revenue is distributed and controlled locally

Sharing the Investment
Did you know? If the County Schools Facility Tax is approved, nearly 60% of that additional revenue is estimated to come from visitors and travelers, not Tazewell County residents. This is according to a 2026 analysis from PGAV Planners.
Revenue from qualifying purchases would directly support our local schools—helping fund safety improvements and facility upgrades along with mental health supports and resources.
This means, if approved, non-residents would contribute to our schools when making qualifying purchases within Tazewell County.

On November 3, 2026, voters in Tazewell County will vote on a 1% County Schools Facility Tax, also known as a one-cent tax. We’re excited to share our new video that explains the importance of this referendum and how it will improve educational support for students across our schools.

If approved, this referendum will provide critical funding to support school safety and security, improve facilities, and provide property tax protection through a new revenue source.

The majority of revenue from this tax would be paid by visitors, not Tazewell County taxpayers, because a One-Cent Tax applies to anyone that makes qualifying purchases under current Illinois Law. Visitors that shop and dine in Tazewell County would contribute nearly 60% of this revenue.
