The YWCA Pekin Coalition for Equality held its annual Until Justice Just Is event on Friday, April 24 at Mineral Springs Park. Thank you to all who participated and all who provided wonderful instruction. A huge thank you to Chris Kaergard of the Dirksen Congressional Center, whose presentation embracing this year's theme of "Democracy in Progress: Voting Rights 250," provided a most informative account of our nation's struggles and successes with voting rights. Thank you to representatives from the League of Women Voters of the Greater Peoria Area who also provided educational material. Finally, a special thank you to our sponsors and partners: Pekin Chamber of Commerce, Dirksen Congressional Center, Pekin Park District, and the Y Reserves.
Participants enjoyed light refreshments during the presentation and concluded the event by simulating a protest march around the Mineral Springs Park lagoon.
