Community Impacted by Decommissioning Indian Point Holds People's Press Conference Ahead of Press Conference by U.S. Energy Secretary
Community members and environmental advocates from the STOP HOLTEC Coalition call for better decommissioning oversight, passage of STRANDED Act, and no more nuclear at Indian Point
Buchanan, NY — This Friday, impacted community members, elected representatives, and environmental advocates will hold a press conference and rally at the east gate of shuttered Indian Point at 12 p.m. after the announcement on Congress member Mike Lawler's web site that the U.S. Energy Secretary Christopher Wright would be holding a press conference at the plant at 1 PM. The mysterious press conference, which was not announced to the public and does not include most local elected officials, was also announced in the Exchange Monitor.

The STOP HOLTEC Coalition is a grassroots umbrella group of over 138 environmental organizations, three counties and 35 municipalities who advocated for the passing of the Save the Hudson bill S6893(Harckham)/A7208(Levenberg) that called for a halt to the dumping of tritiated nuclear wastewater in the Hudson River, with nearly 450,000 online petition signers.
