Back to school, back to dancing, and back to growing together! 🌱💃

A beautiful memory from Praise in the Garden, presented by Peekskill Regeneration Farm, with a special thank-you to our very own Ms. Amanda for helping bring this celebration of creativity and community to life! 💚

As we settle into a new school year, we’re reminded that every dancer grows at their own pace. Each class is another chance to try something new, build confidence, and discover the joy of expressing yourself. Keep showing up. Keep learning. Keep dancing. ✨

We’re also participating in ArtsWestchester’s 2026 Art$WChallenge! Through December 15, eligible new and increased donations can qualify for matching funds, with support from Westchester County Government. Funds are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis—so your support now can go even further!

A little throwback to dancing with our Peekskill community! 💛 These photos capture our dancers performing during the city’s Juneteenth celebrations a few months ago—such a joyful day of music, movement and coming together.

📸 A special thank-you to photographer James Brooks, whose work you’ll recognize by the J.H. Brooks credit. He’s a wonderful friend of Just The Place, and we’re grateful for the care he brings to capturing our dancers and these community moments.

Thank you, James, for giving us these memories to treasure! ✨

Young dancers, so much heart. 💛

Another beautiful moment from “Praise in the Garden” at Regeneration Farm a few weeks ago, featuring some of our Peekskill City Dancers sharing expressive, inspired movement.

Their passion comes through so clearly. Watching these young dancers develop their artistry and discover how much they can communicate through movement is something we treasure at Just The Place. Thank you to our wonderful teacher, Ms. Amanda, for producing this performance! 🌿

The quote featured in this video is from the late Judith Jamison—a groundbreaking dancer, choreographer and mentor. She joined Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater in 1965, became internationally celebrated for performances including Ailey’s “Cry,” and led the company as artistic director from 1989 to 2011. May she rest in peace. Her artistry and wisdom continue to inspire generations of dancers. 🕊️

Feeling inspired to join us? Peekskill City Dancers auditions are October 17, 4:15–5:30 PM, for ages 10 and up at 2 Stowe Road, Peekskill.

You can also support our dancers through the ArtsWestchester matching campaign—eligible gifts can help unlock matching funds. Learn more at justtheplace.org. ✨

Reasons to follow (or unfollow) us 💛 Joining the trend by sharing a little about who we are and what we stand for at Just The Place!

We believe in helping kids reach for their dreams, building discipline through practice and encouragement, and offering scholarships so more children have the opportunity to dance. We celebrate the effort, courage and growth that happen along the way.

This photo is from our “Praise in the Garden” performances at Regeneration Farm a few weeks ago, produced by our wonderful teacher, Ms. Amanda! 🌿 Thank you, Ms. Amanda, for creating this opportunity for our dancers to share their hard work and joy with the community.

If these sound like your reasons to follow, welcome—you’re in Just The Place. ✨
