Due to a generous grant from the National Endowment for the Arts the Paramount Hudson Valley Theater is able to invite you as their guest to An Evening with Storyteller Charlotte Blake Alston on October 25th at 7:30 PM! 🎤✨ Charlotte Blake Alston, is a nationally acclaimed storyteller, that breathes life into African and African American oral traditions through vivid narratives and a range of traditional instruments like the djembe, mbira, shekere, and the 21-stringed kora. Whether performing solo or accompanied by these mesmerizing sounds, Charlotte captivates audiences of all ages with stories that span generations and cultures. It’s Christmas Eve and Lena, 14, needs to find a gift for her new guardian. But what can she get for an aunt she barely knows, in a town she just moved to? As all the stores begin to close, Lena Lena sees one last shop window still glowing. When she steps through the door of Manny’s Book & Paper store, Lena takes us along on magical journey of storytelling and self-discovery.
Northern Lights celebrates the power of art, kindness, friendship, imagination, and hot cocoa to warm the heart and light the way home.

Our all-star cast of local and professional actors includes: Kurt Rhoads and Nance Williamson (Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival), Malachy Cleary (Netflix: Manifest), Peekskill natives Marisa Lowe and Dante de Leo, Sasha Lee Andrews (Putnam Theatre Alliance), Sam Bates (HV Shakespeare), and nationally acclaimed Foley artist Leslie Bloome (This American Life, Stephen Colbert) of Peekskill's Emmy-winning Alchemy Post Sound. Northern Lights is by Mona Z. Smith & Traci Mariano, and directed by Alice Jankell.

NOW CASTING: NORTHERN LIGHTS, A NEW HOLIDAY PLAY

AUDITION INFORMATION

Seeking Hudson Valley actors for two staged readings of a new winter holiday play for all ages at The Paramount Theater in Peekskill on Saturday Dec. 11 @ 8 pm and Sunday, Dec. 12 @ 2 pm. These performances also feature an acclaimed local Foley artist creating sound effects LIVE on stage.

Rehearsals start Sunday, Dec. 5 at The Paramount Theater. All actors play multiple characters. Roles are open to actors of all races and ethnicities and local BIPOC artists are encouraged to audition. Age ranges can be flexible. We’re looking for:

Male, 17-21: Roles include: The Soldier, The Eleven Princes, Steadfast, Brother 1

Male, 17-21: Roles include: Prince Saturday, Tin Soldiers, A Magic Dog, Brother 2

Female, 30s: Roles include: The Princess, The Chief Advisor, Aunt Carmen

Male, 60s: Roles include: Manny, The Tinsmith

HOW TO AUDITION (Self-Tape)

1) Create a 60-90 second self-tape (cell phone video) of any monologue or scene that you enjoy performing. Introduce yourself at the start: Tell us your name, your hometown, and a fun fact about yourself or your family.

2) Send us your self-tape, along with any or all of the following: headshot, resume, reel, website, and/or social media. Please email everything to: [email protected].
