Good evening from The Queen Beanery Coffeehouse!! What an adventure this has been and will continue to be!!
This journey started 9 years ago, when I was closing the doors on my in-home daycare after 12 years, to find a fresh start. I had reached out to Cheryl after being told she was thinking about opening a coffee shop in Peebles. A few phone calls and messages later, an interview was set up in her home on Aug 4, 2014. The shop opened in Feb of 2015, and the rest is history!!
If you wouldāve told me 9 years ago, my boss would become one of my best friends, my go-to prayer warrior, and the person to create the most adorable job for me to work at, I wouldāve never believed you. People thought we were crazy taking the quietest person, and pairing her with the loudest(you can determine who is who šš) But it has worked and worked so well!
She had said that when it was her time to become a grandma, thatās when sheād retire so she could help with the grandbaby. That time came last fall, when Haley announced that she was expecting her baby boy in May. Who knew that sweet tiny baby, would shake all of our worlds for the good!š„¹š
When Cheryl approached me about buying the shop, I kind of kept putting it off at first so I wouldnāt be without her. Thatās complete truth. Itās just been her and I for 8.5 years and what would I do without her?! I knew I had to make a decision. I couldnāt imagine being anywhere else, so I sat down with Clay one night and poured my heart out about it. I couldnāt imagine not having my customers, the after school kids, the residents next door, travelers passing through or getting to see my parents greet our customers nearly everyday. So I went for it!
About 3 months later, many many documents, laughs and tears, weāre here. Cheryl is living her best life with her sweet grandbaby, Ezekiel, and Iām continuing the dream she has worked so hard for. Iām so blessed to have been given this opportunity. Iām so excited and nervous at the same time. I donāt plan on any big changes. Why fix whatās not broken. I do plan on adding some community events later down the road once Iāve become settled in my new role. We all know how much I love to love on my little town and the people in it.ā¤ļøš
Thank you to everyone that has supported us throughout the years!! I look forward to continuing to sling your morning coffee with a side of sarcasm(I donāt even charge for that)! You may still get a glimpse of Cheryl now and then, as sheāll continue to roast for me for the time being! I canāt wait to āfire herā like she has done to me for the past 8 years!!š
