Florence Area Embroiderers' Guild

Florence Area Embroiderers' Guild Members work within local chapters or a member-at-large network to improve their skills and knowledge.

Also, the organization and individual members are involved with museums for education and preservation purposes. EGA offers individual and group correspondence courses, teacher and judge certification programs as well as nine separate disciplines in master craftsman programs. To provide a broad scope of the needlework industry, EGA and its chapters regularly invite internationally recognized artis

ts to hold workshops in this country. EGA sponsors a national exhibit every three years with both members and non-members submitting pieces for the juried exhibit which ultimately travels for two years to various venues throughout the country. Many pieces of embroidery created today qualify as fiber art.

This is from a cross-stitch designer who is experiencing the Ukraine-Russia conflict firsthand. Her name is EkaterinaSpaniela:

๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ ๐Ÿ™ Friends, this is really hard for me to write, but I need your help. I truly thought I could handle everything on my own, but I can't.

As many of you remember, almost a month ago we were forced to move to a different apartment.

Thanks to your kindness, we were able to buy a refrigerator, a TV, and a bed for my grandmother. I will never be able to thank you enough for your support. โค๏ธ

The apartment had been empty since 2022. We cleaned and scrubbed every corner, and I'm doing my best to make it feel like home. Overall, it looks pretty nice now.

But there's only one couch that doesn't fold out. Plushka and I sleep on it, while my husband has to sleep on the floor. During the summer that's still possible - but when the weather gets colder, it won't be.

Friends, asking for help is one of the hardest things I've ever had to do. But when you're a refugee from a destroyed city, sometimes you have no other choice.

We can't go back home to bring our belongings or even our bed because my hometown, Kherson, is on the front line. Every day the enemy drops bombs on buildings, cars, and people, destroying more of my city. After so many years of war, the news hardly talks about it anymore. ๐Ÿ’”

If you or your friends are able to help by purchasing a few of my cross-stitch patterns on Etsy at stitchyprincess.etsy.com, or by sending support directly to my PayPal ([email protected] - Family & Friends payments only), I would be deeply grateful. ๐Ÿ™

If you're not able to help this way, please consider sharing this post. Maybe one of your friends will see it and be able to help. โค๏ธ

Friends, it's so hard to live the way we do now - without knowing what tomorrow will bring, living one day at a time. Our youth is passing in a way we never imagined or wanted. But we're doing our best to stay strong... to survive... and to one day finally hear the words:
"The war is over." ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’›
