Message from our AAU Texas Districts:

GREETINGS TO ALL OUR AAU TRACK & FIELD MEMBERS AND SUPPORTERS,

The COVID-19 situation has had a very difficult impact on the World, United States and our local Texas communities. Numerous families and individuals have been affected and are still working through situations daily. It is recommended that everyone within the Texas AAU Districts follow Government, CDC and Texas Department of Health and Human Services guidelines. There are severe limitations of large gatherings, social distancing while many of our facilities have canceled access until the fall of 2020. Currently, all of our normal Track & Field event venues are shut down with no definite re-open date.

With this in mind, the Texas AAU Districts regret to announce the cancellation of the 2020 Track & Field season. This decision includes the Gulf (Region17), Southwestern (Region 18), and South Texas (Region 19) districts. This will include all Licensed Training Camps and Workshops, Licensed Preliminary/Practice events, District Qualifiers, Primary Championships and Regional Qualifiers. The safety of the Texas AAU District’s Athletes, Parents, Coaches, Volunteers and Officials is the most important factor in this decision. Based on the fundamental operation of our Track & Field events, we see no possible way that we can comply with the CDC, State, and local government guidelines while ensuring the safety and well being of everyone in attendance. Although this is a difficult decision, the safety of all our members and supporters must be the most important motivation of any decision moving forward.

We look forward to resuming our operations in the Fall. Our Districts are already planning exciting and competitive events for the AAU Cross Country and Indoor Track season for later this year.

Best Regards to all!! We know we will be stronger and better than ever this fall and in 2021 as we look forward to our return!!

South Texas Heat participated in the Dilley Homecoming parade today. Thank you to Norma Montoya on letting us use your truck. We greatly appreciate it. Also big congrats on Anthony Guerra for winning district champion yesterday for the 8th grade boys district xc meet. Also Congrats to Chloe Rodriguez for getting 4th place&a medal in the 8th grade girls division. ❤
