The quality of the relationships in one affects the other. Responsiveness and how well the adult understands what the infant is trying to communicate as well as respond to their needs will determine how they view the world around them. Being in tune with the child’s needs and meeting the child’s irreducible needs are very important. The psychosocial focus of an infant is on learning to trust the integrity of caregivers and the environment in providing and meeting the infant’s needs. Infants are likely to make decisions about themselves, others and thing in their world that relate to trust. Interactions with people, with the environment and with things in the environment lead the infant to conclusions and expectations about how his or her needs will be met.

Discipline involves measures that help children learn to control their impulses so that they can learn to reason and make appropriate choices for their behavior before acting. Discipline allows children to learn social skills, empathy, self-awareness that will facilitate their future participation in work and family life and in other interactions with people. Discipline is effective when actions of a parent must be positive, reasonable, and temperate. The methods and strategies of discipline should be geared to a child’s age and developmental level. To discipline a child effectively and adult must understand the child and his or her particular needs and problems.

Encourage your child to talk about what made him angry. If he doesn't want to talk to you he can talk to his pet or a favorite toy. For younger kids, create an "Un Mad" song with made up words to their favorite songs or rhymes. Older kids can write about what made them angry, read i out loud and them throw the anger away.

Teaching your child about fair play; playing by the rules, taking turns, sharing, different responsibilities for different ages, hearing all sides of a story, different priviliges such as bedtimes for different ages. Teah your children about compromise both people can give a little. Set an example by taking opportunities to compromise yourself. Let your children vote on simpe family decisions. You can say raise your hand if you want fish. Compliment and thank your children . You can say you made your sister happy when you shared, Thank you. Teach your children about treating others the way they want to be treated.
