Most people love the promise of Psalm 37:4:

"He will give you the desires of your heart."

But verse 5 shows us the process:

"Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him, and He will act."

Before God acts, He calls us to trust.
Before the breakthrough comes, He calls us to surrender.

Maybe today, God isn't asking you to do more.

Maybe He's asking you to trust Him more.

"Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him, and He will act." — Psalm 37:5 (ESV)

The cow made a commitment.

One gave something.
The other gave everything.

Many of us want the benefits of following Jesus, but commitment requires surrender. It requires sacrifice.

The question isn't whether you've made a contribution.

The question is:
Have you made a commitment?

Watch until the end of this illustration—it might change how you see your walk with God.

It's easy to stay committed when everything is going well.

Real commitment shows up when obedience costs something.

Whether it's a relationship, a responsibility, a calling, or your faith—commitment isn't measured by convenience. It's revealed through sacrifice.

What does your commitment look like when life gets difficult?

06/15/2026

People love the rewards of commitment until commitment starts costing something.

We want the crown, but not the cross.
The blessing, but not the burden.
The promise, but not the process.

The real test of commitment isn't what you do when it's easy. It's what you do when sacrifice is required.

How committed are you when following Jesus becomes uncomfortable?

People prepare differently when they're excited about where they're going.
So what if we lived every day remembering where Jesus says we're headed?

Paradise isn't wishful thinking.

It's a promise.
And promises change how we live today.

It's easy to define people by their worst mistakes—including ourselves.

But the Gospel tells a different story.
The thief on the cross had a past. Yet Jesus promised him a future.

No one is beyond God's grace. No one is too far gone. And no story is beyond redemption.
In Christ, your past doesn't have the final word.

If you stood before God today, what would your answer be?

Most people start listing things they've done.

"I went to church."
"I tried to be a good person."
"I read my Bible."

But the thief on the cross had none of that.
He simply trusted Jesus.

Maybe salvation isn't about what we've done.
Maybe it's about what Jesus has already done.

"The thief on the cross didn't have a résumé. He just had faith. And Jesus said, " That's enough. 👇"

No church attendance. No good deeds. No years of faithfulness to point to.
Just a dying man who looked at Jesus and said, "Remember me."
And that was enough.
Because salvation was never about what you bring. It was always about what He already paid. It's a gift. You don't earn a gift. You don't maintain a gift. You receive it.
Whatever you've done, however far you feel from God. You haven't done anything that puts you outside the reach of grace. The thief on the cross is proof.

You got saved. You're grateful. But then real life kept happening.
The job didn't come through. The relationship still fell apart. The thing you prayed about — still not fixed. And somewhere in the middle of all of that, salvation started to feel like something that happened back then — not something that's holding you together right now.
Pastor Chris names it directly: we treat salvation like a get-out-of-hell-free card. Pull it once, tuck it away, and try to survive the rest on your own.
But Jesus didn't say "one day you'll be with me in paradise."
He said today.
That promise is present tense. It's active. It's yours right now — in the middle of the failing, the trying, the not-yet.
You're not just saved from something. You're saved to something. And that changes everything about how you carry today.
