10 Years Remembered

Today, the Pearland Police Department honored the life and legacy of Officer Endy Ekpanya on the 10th anniversary of his End of Watch.

This morning, officers, family, friends, and community members gathered to remember Officer Ekpanya’s service, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to protecting others. As part of today’s remembrance, the Pearland Police Officers Association was honored to provide and place a second wreath at the Pearland Police Department memorial in his memory.

Officer Ekpanya’s sacrifice will never be forgotten. His legacy continues to live on through those who serve, those who knew him, and the community he helped protect.

Please keep Officer Ekpanya’s family, friends, and fellow officers in your thoughts today.

Never Forgotten. Always Honored.

The PPOA Board would like to thank Mayor Wiltz for taking time out of his busy schedule to have dinner with us last night. It was a great opportunity to get to know him better on a personal level, share perspectives, and continue building positive relationships that help strengthen our community.

We appreciate his willingness to engage with us and look forward to future opportunities to meet and work together.

Six months into 2026, and we want to thank the community that has stood with us this year.

The work this association does is only possible because of the people who believe in it. Members. Families. Friends of the association. Every single person who supports the mission plays a part in what we are able to do, even when the work is quiet and behind the scenes.

We are not at the finish line. The need does not pause at the halfway mark, and neither do we.

Tag someone who has supported this association in any way this year. They should know it has not gone unnoticed.

There are a few dates in American history that should never need an explanation. June 6, 1944 is one of them.

Operation Overlord, better known as D-Day, marked the start of the Allied liberation of Western Europe. American troops landed at Utah and Omaha beaches alongside British and Canadian forces. The fighting in that single day was brutal beyond description, and by nightfall, more than 4,400 Allied soldiers had been killed.

82 years later, the words "the greatest generation" still come up because of what happened that day and the days that followed. Many veterans who serve in our community now stand on that same legacy.

This association does not let June 6 pass quietly. We never will.

The Pearland Police Department is aware of social media posts and online discussions encouraging a potential “town takeover” gathering within our city.

This event is not authorized. Any violations of the law will be addressed, and arrests made when necessary. We want everyone to clearly understand the possible legal consequences associated with unlawful behavior.

Parents and guardians, we encourage you to be proactive and involved with your youth. The safety of our residents, visitors, businesses, and young people remains our top priority, and we will not tolerate conduct that threatens public safety.

We also encourage our community to report suspicious or unsafe activity to us immediately.

Thank you for helping us keep Pearland safe.

Today is Memorial Day. Not a long weekend. Not a sale. A day set aside to remember the men and women who gave everything.

The roots of this holiday go back to May 1868, when General John A. Logan issued a proclamation designating May 30 as a day to decorate the graves of those who died in the Civil War. What began as flowers placed on graves eventually grew into a national observance honoring every American service member lost in every conflict this country has ever fought. More than 1.3 million Americans have died in military service throughout the nation's history.

Our members are working today, as they do on every holiday, keeping this community safe while families gather to remember. We do not take that lightly on any day, but especially not this one.

Share this post to make sure the original meaning of this day reaches your entire network.
