Amanda’s Legacy Foundation seeks to turn tragedy into love through three pillars: Perpetual random acts of kindness, support of the arts and animal cruelty prevention. ~ She Is Love ~ Her siblings include older sister Rebekkah and younger brother Nicholas. Amanda’s unique personality and subtle humor were the hallmarks of her beautiful soul. Her mantra “She Is Love” absolutely sums up the beauty o
f her existence on this earth. As the daughter of a career U.S. Marine, she embraced life as a military brat for most of her life for better or worse. She travelled as part of that military family from coast to coast eventually settling in the Clear Lake area of southeast Texas in 2006 as her father neared retirement from the U.S. She attended Clear Creek ISD and ultimately graduated from Clear Brook High School in 2015. Her years growing up in Southern California, Georgia and Texas shaped the individual and human being Amanda became and that so many family members and friends loved. Her tolerance for all of God’s creatures was at the center of her morale compass. She never wavered from those ideals and loved everyone with all their beautiful imperfections. Amanda struggled through her late teenage years with issues that continue to face a lot of our youth these days. Everything from body image to su***de to constant social pressure to conform to one thing or another. She found her voice and finally came out to her family in what was probably one of the most difficult periods in her life. But like all storms, the rain and dark clouds gave way to sunlight and rainbows. Prior to her passing she had grown comfortable with the woman she had become and found the love of her life, Abigail. She participated in Pride parades and was a staunch supporter of gay rights, which let’s face it are human rights. She was at a pivotal and beautiful point in her life just prior to her passing. It seemed as though things were finally looking up. On November 12, 2019 Amanda was involved in a vehicle accident only a few hundred yards from her home as she drove to her first college class that morning. At 7:57 am that day our family was changed forever. We lost our baby girl and nothing in this world would ever be the same. We miss Amanda tremendously and we have struggled to make each day one without tears and heartache but as any parent who has lost a child would tell you, there is no such thing. So this brings us to why we established Amanda's Legacy Foundation and the answer is quite simple. We wanted a mechanism in place to project the love that our daughter displayed each and every day of her existence on this earth. Our random acts of kindness campaign will entail both big and small efforts to improve the lives of human beings struggling mentally, emotionally and financially. We want to begin a small ripple of kindness that one day will reach a tidal wave of love. Our support for animal rights groups goes to the core of one of Amanda's greatest loves, caring for the neglected, abused and abandoned creatures all too often forgotten. Animals' unconditional love is what we as humans aspire each and every day to capture and often fall short of accomplishing. Amanda's artistry is displayed in our foundation's logo through her hand drawn sketch and signature. Art was an outlet Amanda often utilized to express her emotions. Sometimes is was happiness and at times it was sadness. In either case the emotions were raw and true. It is for this reason that our foundation will pledge it's support for art programs at her alma maters through scholarships and we hope to someday expand these efforts to include preservation and awareness.
