Port Freeport is moving a lot more than cargo. It is helping move our region forward.
Thank you to Phyllis Saathoff, Executive Director/CEO of Port Freeport, for joining us at today’s Pearland Chamber Monthly Membership Luncheon and sharing an update on the Port’s growth, investment and impact across Brazoria County and beyond.
A few takeaways from the presentation:
• 1,305 vessel calls in FY 2025, an 11% increase
• 39.3 million tons of cargo moved port wide, up 17%
• Port Freeport ranks 9th in the nation for foreign waterborne export tonnage and 6th in chemicals
• The Port generates an estimated $157.3 billion in nationwide economic impact, supporting more than 266,000 jobs
• The Freeport Harbor Channel Improvement Project has expanded and deepened the channel to 51 to 56 feet, positioning Port Freeport for continued growth
• Nearly $98 million in additional infrastructure projects are being advanced through state, federal and Port investment
These investments mean more capacity, stronger infrastructure, more jobs and greater economic opportunity for our entire region.
